On tap at Pinellas Ale Works, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has lots of smoked meat, but bourbon, wood, and some roast—a bit sludgy and jumbled. Flavour has a nice smoky whiskey barrel character, along with bourbon, some roast, and harsh booziness. Massive barrel character, big booze; a bit clumsy, but fun stuff overall. Good effort.

On tap at Pinellas Ale Works, pours a clear mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma is full of paint thinner, wood glue, and some caramel—that went wrong. Flavour is egregious, with huge wood glue, paint thinner, perfume. Totally fucked. Nasty.

On tap at Pinellas Ale Works, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is dominated by the coconut, with soft roast and nice sugars in there behind the coconut. Flavour somehow turns the 1888 into a more cohesive beast, with lots of coconut, roast, and woody hops. Almost like a coconut oil character on top of the roast and hops, with less of the glue. Good but still a bit clumsy.

6.4/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 7 Flavor 6 Texture 4 Overall 6.5
On tap at Pinellas Ale Works, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of deep roast, some woody hops, and some earthy malt. Flavour is pretty aggressive, but not quite tempered, with intense roast, big woody hoppy bitterness, and some glue. Rather haphazard and harsh, despite the nice things going for it. Not terrible but needs work.

On tap at Pinellas Ale Works, pours a hazy dark amber orange with a small beige head. Aroma is very syrupy, with lots of sweet caramel and sugars. Flavour has toasted caramel, bready malt, and sugars. Totally unrefined and lacking elegance, but it’s inoffensive; just little depth or refinement. Meh.

On tap at Pinellas Ale Works, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out clean, bright piney hops, light citrus, and a dry biscuity malt. Flavour reveals bright woody piney hops, with just enough biscuity malt base. Good west coast piney hop character. Very good.

4.4/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 4.5 Flavor 4 Texture 4 Overall 4
On tap at Pinellas Ale Works, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Nose has some lacto, light yogurt, and a touch of citrusy. Flavour is too herbal, with vegetal notes, tartness, and weird sugars. Something seems off about it.

Draught at the brewery. Mahogany and clear, not a lot of head. Whisky aroma, and I mean big sour bourbon, caramel, hard to get much else. Sweet and sour-mash-sour with a long balanced finish. Medium to heavy carbonation. A bit too intense on the barrel aging for me.

Draught at the brewery. Light yellow/gold, somewhat hazy with almost no head. Spicy aroma with cinnamon to the fore. Sweet taste, gentle cinnamon, some ground coriander. Fuller body than I'd expected with carbonation on the heavy side. Not complicated but very good.

Draught at the brewery. Light rosé pink with the a small ring of white head. Light aroma, a bit of red grape, some raspberry. The taste is perfectly balanced, not over-flavoured so the base beer shines through nicely. Gently sour finish with more raspberry. Medium carbonation on the watery body. Damn.
