Tap at Komachi. Light golden amber. Citrus hop nose, light resin, clean malt. Dry citrus flavor with strong bitterness. Kind of old school West Coaster. Clean and decent but not really exciting. Hops are a bit dull.

Can, mail order from the brewery. Very hazy pastel yellow with a tall, fine head. Huge nose like a tropical fruit salad, passion fruit, watermelon, mango, orange and grapefruit. Sour, passion fruit big time. Also guava and orange. Lightly sweet, quite tart, with a tart, mildly dirty and bitter finish. Smooth, velvety texture helped by lactose, no doubt. Has a ton of ingredients but manages not to be too sweet or too fake.

Can, mail order from the brewery. Super hazy, thick, dull pastel golden color with a thick, low head. Bright yuzu nose, tropical fruit, grapefruit, wheaty malt. Sweet, rich malt, medium yuzu, grapefruit, lots of tropical fruit, slightly funky, resiny. Quite bitter in the finish. Smooth, silky. Decent but not great.

Can from the brewery, mail order. Nearly clear pale gold, just a bit of hop haze. Tall, fine head. Bright citrus nose, grapefruit, lemon, some tropical fruit, slight dankness and a bit of pine. Light and crisp, not very sweet. Big citrus, tropical, passion fruit, some resin. Very dry finish. Drier than expected from them. Medium bitterness in the finish. Solid stuff.

Can from the brewery, mail order. I think I had this before, but not rating survives... Medium golden color, clear, with a tall, fine head. Dank American and maybe NZ hops. Grapefruit, resin, overripe tropical fruit. White grapes. Nice. More ale than lager. Sweet malt, dank, resinous hops, citrus. Obviously a West Coast Pilsner, more like an ale. Biscuity malt. Great hops. Crisp and clean. Nice stuff.

Can, mail order from the brewery. Bright pale to medium golden color, almost clear, with a tall, fine head. Dank nose. Grapefruit, light alliums, some over-ripe mangoes and pineapple, piny resins. The nose fits the name. Rather sweet malt and dank hops. Overripe mango, mandarin orange, a touch of garlic, some pine. Pretty enjoyable overall. Smooth, silky body, medium.

Can, mail order from the brewery. Bright golden color, clear, with a medium, fine head. Bright "C" hop nose, lots of citrus, grapefruit, lemon, light tropical fruits, light resin. Classic APA flavor, no caramel. Clean, biscuity malt, bright citrus hops, lots of resin now, and quite bitter. Medium body, rounded mouth feel. Well done APA. Eminently drinkable and tasty.

This was another Hanshin Umeda find.
Ise Kadoya NikiKyuu IPA West Coast IPA 29th Anniversary 6%
It’s got a great aroma with loads of tropical notes featuring papaya. Medium to full bodied with a semi-dry finish.
This is great, very much a modern take on a west coast IPA but with enough of a bitter bite that gives it a solid nod towards the style’s origins.
