Nice bright orange coloured body with a slightly hazy glow and a nice-sized (one centimetre) tan head. Aroma of apricots, fresh hops, metal, a touch of alcohol and some honey. Medium-bodied; Assertive cascade hops that show grapefruit and a touch of pine with a good malt backbone, some slightly sweet apricots and a good bitter finish. Aftertaste dry and bitter, but showing an ever so small sweetness. Overall, a very well crafted APA - perfect pretty much year-round, but definitely good as a crisp non-overhopped/overalcoholed beer. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 05-March-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 02-May-2010.

Can - Pours out a slightly hazy light yellowish orange with a modest but lasting sandy colored head. Light hop aroma, with some plain straight-forward light malts. Tastes quite bitter for a Pale and a bit lacking in forward, fresh hop flavor. Odd, the commercial description boasts a bit on it’s dry-hops but this is exactly what I would have expected more of. Light, crisp, fairly dry and a good sharp trailer. Just wish for more C-Hop flavor

out of can...A nice clear light mahogany witha rather dark tan head. Subtle sweet malty aroma, with a touch of woodiness and some light spices. Flavor is woody and malty. Very plain, but a session beer that doesn’t fight to be noticed. Ambers and not usually very exciting but this is well done and with just enough flavor to keep you picking up the glass. Appropriately low on the bitterness, rather softly carbonated and a slightly astringent trailer. Not bad.

Draught . Medium clear orange with a medium white head. Aroma is mild, not as fruity as most IPAs. Hoppy flavour, with a floral edge. Hop finish but restrained. Silly name.

Beer #2 in tonight’s vertical IPA tasting. 12 oz can into shaker. The aroma here is awesomely piney, just like 21st Amendment’s, but maybe not quite as assertive. This beer also has a smoky quality to it and not as much malt in the nose. Compared to the first beer, this one almost smells like Pacific Northwest hops that have grown a bit of mold on them or something. It just isn’t as crisp smelling, but it’s still pretty fantastic regardless, if that makes any sense. Pours a slightly hazy gold--same hue as the first beer--with not as nice of a head, but with equally impressive lacework. Taste is fairly bitter, and it lingers. Carbonation is a little low here, just like the first beer. Overall, not as impressive as 21st Amendment’s, but it’s still a nice juicy IPA.

Tasting at Papsø, can
Hazy light amber color. Good amount of hops in the nose, and biscuity darker malts. Sweetish caramel flavor, with a biscuity touch, and good bitterness. The final is a bit puckery. Good anyway, straight American Amber.
