Rather stable, rust-coloured head over black beer. Rust, slag, sweet-burnt, coffee, mocha, café noir cookies. Sourish, stout flavour at first, then going to burnt-bitter, with some covert sweet malt undertones. Obviously well-bodied, slick and rich. Good carbonation. Myeah... Old Growth? I’d be tempted to speak about Déjà vu....

Bottle at Craigs. Pours deep dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of rich chocolate, vanilla, biscuit. Taste is cocoa, sweet sugar. Chocolate on the finish. Full of chocolate.

Can from Mitsuya’s. Drank from the can. Grainy aroma with light berry and some grassiness. Thin body with a malty watery mouthfeel. Slightly metallic with a grassy finish. Not very good.

[ As Caldera South Side Strong Ale ].Clear medium yellow - amber orange color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, pale malt, moderate hoppy, grass, moderate yeasty, vomit notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration, grass, caramel, yeast, sharp. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150923]

Can (from firma bier). Pours dark brown with beige head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is dark chocolate, malt, roast, roast, oatmeal. Flavor is sweet and bitter, dark chocolate, malt, roast, oatmeal. Finish is roast bitter. Overall: very nice.

From a 650ml bottle on 18/12/2015 (another early Xmas from my wonderful spouse). Pours a very dark brown with a biggish head which disappears quite quickly. Has a very pleasant aroma of milk chocolate and vanilla. The flavour features more chocolate and vanilla, with a hint of coffee. The coconut kicks in at the finish - quite noticeable but never overwhelming. Medium bodied with the carbonation a touch prickly. This is a really nice dessert porter.
