Cloudy copper in color, with a slight, off-white lacing - light aroma of oak, hops and iced tea? - flavor is a blend of cherries and chocolate, with some hops arriving late, but there is a lack of complexity and/or balance - flavors diminish much too rapidly in the finish, except for bit of an acidic, metallic taste that is a little off-putting at times - a decent effort, with a decent flavor, but it just doesn't come together very well for me.

Burnt orange color with sticky white lacing - explosive aroma of citrus, pine, hops and slight sweetness - heavy malty flavor up front(caramel mostly) - really chewy throughout - hops gradually swell up from underneath the malts, finally becoming dominant in the finish, along with a heavy grapefruit flavor - extremely well-balanced, complex progression of flavors - a full-body experience of a beer.

Is this an Arrogant Bastard clone? Grapefruit, grapefruit, and more grapefruit. And a bit of pine, just for your sipping pleasure. Copper body with plenty of "floaties." The hops really do dominate the malt backbone, and this beer doesn't present anything I haven't tried before.

Dark copper in colour with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma of malt, malt, mmore malt and a toffee sweetness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong maltiness (no surprise there) with some sweet flavours. Aftertaste fairly bittered from the malt, but not overwhelmingly so. Overall, a good scottish, but i'm not one for the style. I owe a great big deal of thanks to Phil (Haddon90) for bringing this 65 cL bottle back all the way from California for me to sample on my visit to Knoxville on 27-September-2003.

(draught) Deep copper; little to no head. Nose yields corn, heavy roasted malts, and lots of nuts, like walnut-oil. Again, very nutty taste, walnut and hazelnut. It has an oily aroma, but NOT oily mouthfeel. MF is a bit slick, all the same, medium to full bodied. Good, original, nutty flavour. No Scot would recognise it, however...

Mmmm...stout. Pours dark brown (not as dark as some Imperials) with a thin tan head clinging to the sides of the glass. Chocolate, coffee, and alcohol in the aroma. Flavor is a rich medley of coffee, chocolate, hints of dark fruit, and hints of barleywine-like bread/cookies. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. The beer is thick, but not over-the-top. A hint of alcohol warmth in the aftertaste. A well-crafted, exquisite version of my favorite style.

Darker golden in colour with a large white head which stays well. The aroma is great...very hoppy and somewhat floral. The taste however is pretty disapointing. Not much flavour and not many hops lead to a light taste. Not the worst beer i've had of this style, but definately not close to the best. Also found in the 22 ounce bottle which isn't my favourite size, but seemingly the easiest to find from California. I bought this at Norm's in Vienna, Virginia.

Now this, this my friend is a kick ass beer. In the 20+ bottles I lugged back to the hotel in a cab, this and Stone's 6th Anniversary Porter will be hard to beat. Pours a lovely black color with mahogany around the edges. Thin and bubbly tan head. Espresso and charred chocolate aroma. Flavor of chocolate, caramel, raisins, sweet liqueur, and surprisingly little alcohol. Perfect warming finish as far as I am concerned, as I had absolutely no problem polishing off this bomber in no time. Also worth noting that this beer has about the busiest label I have ever seen. Among the description, awards, etc., there is even a map to the brewery! This beer is underrated in my opinion.

Bottled, year unknown. Pours thick and mahogany coloured with no head. Orangey nose. Very malty and very sweet. The finish is drier and nicely hop aromatic with lingering bitterness.
