If you like basil and have some cuisine to go with it, go for it! It’s a very nicely crafted beer imho, the basil is very intense, especially in the nose. Flavour is also nice, mild with strong basil.

Bottle from Mentelocale open air cafe in Genoa’s old port area. Pours a hazy amber brown with a small off white head. Aroma of butter popcorn, herb and stewed veg. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, touch sour. Medium body, slight sticky texture, average carbonation. Finish is buttery, with a light herbal bitterness. Was a grower this one.

Bottle [gift from Inoven] @ home. Clear rusty orange color, medium to full sized fizzy white head. Smell and taste malts, a weird sort of light tart, slightly bitter. A bit weird, not very flavourful. Fizzy carbonation, low to average body. Meh, don’t like it.

In an ocean of boring look-alike beers that fail to set each other apart from the next or from being a clone of an American comes Genova. While not being the Holy Grail of beers this one was by far the most intriguing and intersting beer of the festival, to love or to hate. That is what Italy needs. 16 for originality.

Bottled from Genova. Hazy amber color, small off-white head. Slightly tart, berryish aroma. Medium-bodied. Slightly sour (infected?), spicey (clove) flavor. Also quite sweet berryish flavor. Probably past its prime.
