Description
Salopian Brewery first brewed in Shrewsbury in 1995. Founded by Martin Barry on the site of the old Onions Dairy and like many breweries the kit we first brewed on was small and rudimentary at only two barrels. Brewing ceased in late 1997 due to financial problems. Our chairman Wilf Nelson joined the brewery in 1998 – Wilf coming on board gave the brewery much needed stability and vision to move to forward and brewing recommenced in January 1998.

Slowly, as cash flow permitted, we upgraded our brewing kit and replaced rusty dented vans with slightly less rusty dented vans. It was the onset of brewing a more eclectic range of cask ale, whilst embracing both traditional styles and those of our locality. 2014 saw the brewery make its final move – we hope! – to the village of Hadnall on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.

Shared third of a pint at the 31st Shrewsbury Beer Festival in St Mary's Church on 28th September 2023. Clean golden pour, white crown. Another citrusy golden beer from Salopian, this one allowing the Equinox hop to express it's self.

Shared third of a pint at the 31st Shrewsbury Beer Festival in St Mary's Church on 28th September 2023. Golden pour, white head. Citrus leanings with a decent malty base, not as exciting as I'd hoped.

Cask @ Shrewsbury Real Ale Festival 2023. Pours a hazed golden yellow, good white head. Tropical stonefruit aroma. Flavour profile is centred around smooth stonefruit without veering too sweet. Distant creamy lychee moments. Excellent haze. Would love to try again as a full pint.
