Knowle Spring Brewery, Queen's Rd, Keighley, BD21 1AW, England
Description
In 1858 Timothy Taylor began brewing beer in Cook Lane in the West Riding town of Keighley. He clearly struck upon a successful formula for in 1863 he set up and built a larger brewery at Knowle Spring, where the company has remained ever since.

The superb spring water that wells up from deep under the Pennines is still used today to produce the country's best traditional cask ales.

The brewery remains in the Taylor family and is now the last independent brewery of its type left in West Yorkshire. This independence enables Taylors to survive as one of the few brewers still brewing true cask ales in the same way it has always done."Taylor's Taste" is achieved by using only the finest natural ingredients, taking pride in the brewing process and allowing full time for the ales to ferment and mature, thereby creating a unique family of beers.

We have come a long way since 1858. Our beers have won many awards and worldwide acclaim. This is seen within our product range.

Can from Sainsburys. Amber pour with a white head. Lemon sherbet & grapefruit aromas. Taste is bitter citrus, light grains. Lightly tropical, splash of orange marmalade. Bitter aftertaste. Straightforward enough brew but gets slightly better as it goes along.

Hazy yellow/orange pour with a white head, dissapearing quickly. Aroma is malt, honey and a faint bit of fruit. Taste malt, honey, hops, some herbs, slightly bitter finish. OK, but not mindblowing.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from Tahsin. Pours perfectly clear copper with a creamy, white head. Lovely stuff, nice fresh malty character, bready, subtle earthy hops, a nip of brown sugar, toast. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Balanced finish, more lightly toasted malts, brown bread, soft earthy bitterness. Just so drinkable.

June 12, 2025 (7/4/6/3/13=3.3): Poured from 500mL bottle (listed as 4.1% abv; stamped Oct 25 so probably bb that date). Clear amber gold with medium white head. Bready malt with very feint caramel, not getting any of the metallic note of my first rating, soft bittering herbaceous hops underlying. Okay.

June 23, 2023 (6/3/6/3/12=3.0): Poured from 500mL bottle (bb Dec 23 - I assume that stamp means Dec 2023). Clear amber gold with full white head. Mild caramel and bread malt with some bittering hops and a notable metallic note. The metallic note definitely takes it down a notch.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Tahsin Food Centre. Pours totally clear gold with a sturdy, foamy white topping. Lovely biscuity hops, light yeast, grass, hay, accents of citrus, pale bread. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Clean and balanced finish. Monstrously Sri label.
