Bottle. Dark brown, with a thin, off-white, head. Big aroma of spice, prunes, chocolate and bready malts. Thin mouth feel, with flavours of dark fruit, caramel, nutmeg and plain chocolate, leading to a slightly toasty finish. A lot going on, but I wasn't a fan.

Bottle. Dark, ruddy brown, with a thin, off-white, head. Big aroma of red berries, hazelnuts and bready malts. Flavour had more fruit and some caramel upfront, before a slight toastiness with a dusting of cocoa powder. The finish was enjoyably bitter. A good winter beer.

Can from Sainsbury's Supermarket, Blackley. Pale golden with a very light carbonation. Now at 5% and a new design in the same colours but clearly a dry cider with a light apple taste, but more stated apple aroma.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury's, Darlington. Salmon pink colour, pinkish fizzy bubbly head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of apple, fruity, strawberry hint. Taste is sweet, apple, fruity, hints of berry, strawberry, sugary notes, with alittle acidity. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, medium-sweet finish. OK
