A dirty hazy flaky golden amber ale with a thick receeding white head. A doughy malt aroma with light alcohol. In mouth, more on the crisp side, with lightly sweet malt, fruity esters, apple, and alcohol in finish. Boring French imitation. Bought at Sherbrooke Liquor, Edmonton, Mar. 2007.

75cl bottle, bought in France. Golden yellow, slightly hazy, small head. Rather sweet and malty with hints of caramel. A hoppy bitterness appears in the finish and aftertaste.

Light grassy aroma. Ok, it’s a lager. Brassy gold color with a white head that leaves. After the carbonation is out of the way there is a light malty sweetness. There is a bit of hop, but the malt dominates the finish. Sort of a musty aspect in the long finish. It is different. Way better than Bud. Which is damning with faint praise.

Bottled(250ml). -Another Meteor beer for French supermarkets. 10pack from Geant Briancon. Pale golden coloured, small airy head, dusty bready nose. Lively carbonation. The aroma is slight malty, bready and faint hoppy with grainy and corny notes. Moderate bitter finish

Cute little 0.25l bottle courtesy of ozujsko (thanks!)Odd paler golden colour, no head, but lively carbonation. Completely bready aroma, with what just could be a hint of hop and corn. Completely empty taste, reminiscent of mineral water. Weak, weak notes of pleasant lemony hops and nothing else, no, I lie, it feels like it has corn in it more than it tastes, but I’m almost sure it’s in there. Overall, a poor beer, and oh, look, it’s my number 400. How cute.

650ml bottle from Cask & Glass. Tonbridge. Orange/copper with lasting beige head. Strange fruit spice bready aroma. Doughy and tinnedfish. No seriously, it smells of tinned sardines. Better in mouth, still a bit of mackerel though. Some biscuity malt, but there is a meaty oily fish thing going on. Hey a beer with Omega 5 oils. That would be great and healthy too. Some spice on the end. This site has meant that I have had the opportunity to try a lot of beers, but this is seriously one of the oddest things I’ve put in my mouth. Rest of the beer is a pretty standard French biere de garde amber. But the oily fish, my god. Try it by all means, but please don’t try to drink a whole bottle.

Bottled(750ml). -Golden/orange coloured, medium sized white head, perfume honey nose. Aroma is grainy and slight malty with notes of caramel. What a surprise that one of the biggest french breweries that brew beers for supermarkets, bottled a beer in this kind of bottle.

0.75l bottle... unfortunately, not bottle conditioned. Poured a beautiful deep golden colour, with a medium sized thick white head that went away fast. the nose was malty/grainy, with notes of apricot and just a hint of alcohol... The taste was odd, somewhat acidic, notes of banana and alcohol, somewhat grainy ... the mouthfeel feels better than it tastes, nice and smooth. Not really all that special, and I expected more.

75cl from Carrefour, Calais. I really must stop doing this to myself. I’ve had just about everything but the ciders in Carrefour, so when I was in there last week, I found myself looking at the beers,that although I hadn’t had I thought that I should buy to try. I should have bought six bottles of Gayant la Goudale. This is chestnut colour with bubbly white head. Bit of rubbery malt aroma. Some hop. Quite nice fruitymalt in mouth. Bit hollow. Nice finish with some herby hop on end. Some candy sugar. Quite likeable. If a little dull in mouth. Spice/herb is good.

(Bottle 25 cl) Clear, pilsener golden with a creamy, off-white head. Aroma of yeast and fruit. Fairly full body with a warming alcohol and a distinct fruitiness. A very typical Belgian Blonde by style. 011006
