Aged sample Old ivory head, dwindling over faintly veiled chestnut beer. Parsley, cypress, other conifers, some dark malts. Sweet, liquorice with a faint bitterish-woody finish. Low carbonation, slick; falls dead but for the maltsugars. Oh well. Not very Belgian. Txs to Stef!

4th June 2020. Bottle at home picked up in Lisbon in November 2019, back in the good days when I could travel with work. Pours a black, clear and thinish beer. Aroma has cocoa, dark chocolate and cherry. Taste is dark chocolate, sweet cherry, some liquor, it’s well balanced and unusual. Good

Perfectly acceptable mexicacake interpretation. Lightly chilly, some tiny sliver of heat in the back. Bunch of vanilla, plenty of cacao, cinnamon. Roasty, sweet, smooth and with some subtle bitterness. Just a bit thin and metallic, but the flavours work.
