Hopworks was founded in 2007 by our Brewmaster, Christian Ettinger. He started brewing in his parent’s kitchen during his first summer break in college and it didn’t take long to decide he would open his own brewpub.
With locally-sourced, organic and Salmon-Safe hops, our 20-barrel brewery produces 10,000 barrels of beer per year for our two brewpubs, airport brewpub, and for distribution throughout Cascadia and beyond. From composting to salvaged materials, and pervious pavers to hand dryers, we’ve made every effort to protect our planet with thoughtful alternatives to the status quo.

Hopworks Great Gourds of Fire 6.5% Fire Roasted Pumpkin Ale with Spices Reddish brown color with fizzy light beige foam. Sweet cinnamon and pumpkin aroma, medium bodied with decent pumpkin and subdued spice flavors. Also strangely enough some waxy flora soapy notes. Alright but the one from Hop Kotan smokes this.

Can. Amber beer with a dark cream head. Grapefruit and light earth aroma with light pine. grapefruit and pine flavor with light caramel and light earth. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and pine linger with light caramel.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Bright, hazy yellow pour with a small, clingy foam head. Grassy, bready aroma with light hoppy notes. Taste showcases the hops, grassy, floral. Bitterness comes in late with a bit of dryness.

Keg draught at Crew Dog, Crewe Market. Dark gold, mostly clear and flat. Light biscuits aroma with suggestions of fruity hop. Gorgeous sweet taste with a chewy malt to the fore, quickly turning bitter with a drying finish. Lemon drops and pie crust in the aftertaste. Brilliant for the style.

Keg at the Pegasus Taproom, Canterbury, 15/09/21. Golden orange with a good sized off white head. Nose is tangerine, grass, citric tinged straw, mixed tropical fruits. Taste comprises blood orange, grass, tangerine, melon, citric tinged straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with balanced hop bitterness. Decent enough mid paced IPA.

16 oz can enjoyed. Definitely had this one several times in years past, as I remember this one featured in beer magazines as a top beer to try. Always an enjoyable imperial full of bold and bitter hops. Aroma bites hard with a grapefruit peel citrus. Sharp first sip, bold and bitter orange peel, juicy hops. A big malt backbone, but this ends up balancing out well for a beer of its potency. Some caramel linger. Listed a little more modest than past years, 8.6%. It shows on this beer, but I want it to. Really nice beer, and one I look forward to each time it hits the shelves in my local.

On tap. A hazy light lemon yellow pour with a thin skin of white micro bubbles. Soft tropical and citrus aromas and flavors. Smooth soft palate and modest pithy bitter bite. Quite nice

Backlog October 2020. Looks amazing, pitch-black body under a perfect looking, dense, lacing beige head. Nice aroma, dark malt, chocolate, vanilla and hint of coffee. Taste has smooth roasted, dark malt, quite sweet, chocolate, caramel, hint of coffee and some alcohol. Balancing bitterness. Fine body and smooth, long lasting aftertaste.

16 fl.oz. can. A hazy orange golden beer with a small white head. Aroma of grapefruit, blood orange, tangerine. Taste of bitter orange fruits, blood orange, grapefruit, zest, long bitter finish.
