Draft at the brewery. Yellow/ orange body, faint ring of head. Savoryy, floral aroma, sage, rosemary., Some citrus. Taste is light and tart, tangerines and hibiscus. Not a fan of the style, but this is exceptional.

Draft at taproom. Dark mahogany, small ring of head. Aroma is pit fruit, plums, mildly sweet. Taste is also fruity, raisins, prunes. The barrel aging announced itself later on with some booziness and heat. Well crafted.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Cloudy dark amber color, with red hue, small compact head. The mix of rye and yeast produces some anise aroma. The flavor has some caramel, some liquorice, it’s earthy, and has some anise. I don’t know where they get the pumpernickel, not from Germany for sure, and I don’t know why anybody would fancy this.

Hazy pale blond color. It has a very light aroma of straws, almost no malt flavor, almost no yeast character; it’s dry and rather weak. No flaws.
I have no words to describe it, as there is nothing to describe.
I like some good low alcohol beer when properly done; this one is just expensive water.

Hazy amber-brown, with a thin head. Quite spicy, lots of rye, toastiness. Full body. Not a lot of complexity, just an amber with rye character.

Slight haze, very pale almost cidery colour. Thin head. Aroma is lightly fruity, estery. Light body, vaguely malty, bit husky, low bitterness, touch of yeastiness. I get the low alc thing; I’m just not into the balance here.

On tap at The Commons, pours black with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of funk, tart dark fruits, and brett. Flavour is super complex, with brett, funk, tart dark fruits, balsamic, and wood. Funky, vinegary, and lightly tart on the finish. Very good.

On tap at The Commons, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of cold brew and subdued chocolate. Flavour is similar, with lots of cold brew dominating with just a touch of dry cocoa. Finishes coffee-dominated, with subdued cocoa. Solid stuff.
