Keg at BD CJ. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich, roasted malts, liquorice, treacle, vanilla, light acidity and earth. The taste is smooth, rich, roasted malts, creamy, charred wood, dark fruits, light acidity and blackcurrant jam with a dry finish. Medium - full body and fine carbonation. Interesting stuff all round.

Keg at BD CJ. It pours darkest red - brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, musty, damp wood, dried fruits, sherbet and sour candy. The taste is crisp, tart, red grape skin, sherbet, earth, damp leaves, grapefruit and wood with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice red grape action. Decent.

Draught at St Pats Fest. Pale gold with no real head. Aroma of grainy malt. Flavour is sweet malt, grain, nice balance. Fruity finish.

Bottle thanks to BIK the 2016 Cotteridge Convention. It pours black with a small tan head. The aroma is rich, oily, bitter – sweet, vanilla, oak, rocky road, smoked peat and slightly medicinal vibe. The taste is rich, bitter, chewy malt, roasted malts, smoked peat, rocky road, vanilla, oak and some alcohol with a warming finish. Medium - full body and moderate carbonation. I thought the barrel aging worked really nicely on this one. Tasty.

Bottle at CWC II; dark brown pour with a thin bubbly dark brown head, aroma has some smoke and dark fruits, taste has phenolic smokey action, not for me.

Bottle shared at the Cotteridge Convention - 2016 edition. Big thanks to BeersI’veKnown. Pours oily black with a slight, creamy tan head. Big peat aroma, with hints of rubber and chocolate. Medium sweet flavour with lots of gooey chocolate, loads more peat, some earthy bitterness, smoke. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, with further sweet cocoa and lingering peat. Great stuff - assuming you can enjoy peat.
