About
Birra Amarcord was born in 1997 in Rimini to a number of friends who, like the famous song, wanted to change the world (of Italian beer). Birra Amarcord was born to and in a region, Romagna. It is the upshot of a dream that began 20 years ago and which today has come true. It is also the upshot of a constant and relentless passion. Later on, Birra Amarcord also became "a family history," inasmuch as two generations of the Bagli family carry on this dream with dedication, thanks to top-quality raw materials but above all thanks to the people who, together with them, every day work to create one-of-a-kind products. Making good beer is not at all simple.

Although the registered office still is in Rimini, their brewery is since 2015 located in Apecchio.

Sample from 75 cl bottle. Dark amber colour with a thin off white head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, dark overripe fruits, port like impressions. Taste is sweet. Medium bodied. Drying fruity finish. Nice.

T: medium malty base, caramel, bready, vaguely fruity, weak herbal bitterness, yeasty, medium body and soft carbonation, not good balanced.

Viele italienische Biere, die an Ferienorten vertrieben werden, sind ja leichte Strandbiere. Dieses aber nicht. Es ist ein schweres Strong Ale nach belgischen Vorbild und wie die anderem Biere nach einer Figur aus einem Fellini-Film benannt. Ich habe den Fehler gemacht, es am Strand von Rimini zu trinken, was es etwas erschwerte, es fair zu bewerten... Es ist schön aromatisch und hat einen vollen Körper und ortenlich Fruchtaromen, die auch gut miteinander harmonieren. Der Name ließ mich etwas Rauchigkeit erahnen, diese ist aber weder gewollt noch merkt man etwas. Sicher ein gutes Bier an einem frischen Winterabend.

33cl bottle from Auchan Market in Luxembourg city in Luxembourg. F: thin, tan, quick gone. C: coppery, hazy. A: rich malty, caramel, mellow fruity, bit toffee, toast. T: malty, caramel, bit bready, vaguely fruity, toast, aroma is bit better than taste, bit watery feeling, medium body and carbonation, nothing special, partially enjoyed.

A: dark malts, roasted tones, coffee grounds, chocolate, cocoa, dark fruits, caramel, bit red fruits and red wine. T: rich malty, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, dried fruits, bit toffee, hint of warming alcohol, nice coffee in aroma and taste, medium to full body, medium carbonation, quite nice, enjoyed.

355ml bottle from Auchan Market in Luxembourg city in Luxembourg. F: big, tan, good retention. C: dark brown with coppery hue against the light, almost clear. A: malty, bit cherries, red fruits, caramel, bit chocolate, toast. T: medium malty base, bit red berries, strawberries, red fruits, caramel, bit watery feeling for such strong beer, candy touch, quite funny all together and not for Belgium style at all yet not bad, enjoyable.

750ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Vinous, fruity aroma, notes of blue grapes and morello, some yeasty spiciness with a marmite touch. Taste is dry, vinous, slightly fruity, minimally tart-ish, hints of blue grapes and morello, minimally chocolately, dark malty basis. Interesting vinous character, relatively light and drinkable. A Dark Sour Ale and Doppelbock hybrid that exhibits more indecisiveness than ingenious innovation.
