330ml bottle. Minimally milky, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, snow white head. Wheaty malty, zesty citrusy fruity and minimally spicy as well as minimally yeasty spicy aroma, hints of white bread crust, orange peel, a touch of banana, coriander. Taste is zesty citrusy fruity, sweet-ish, wheaty malty, yeasty fruity and minimally spicy, hints of banana, orange peel, a touch of coriander. Watery texture, minimally dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Balanced, refreshing, maybe a tad too sweet, could be a touch more spicy as concerns my personal liking - pretty decent.

Bruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitterzoet met iets van karamel, wat toffee en wat rode bessen, en aardbei. Heel fijn drinkbaar bier.

AROMA: Moderate scents of yeast with some kind of musty/cheese undertone. It's a very odd sensation (or should I say, scentsation). Other scents detected are lavender, sweet citrus (tangerine??), and alcohol.
APPEARANCE: Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a tall, off-white, medium-frothy head, that dissipates slowly with excellent lacing. It looks very inviting in my clear, Pilsner glass!
TASTE: Sweet with moderate flavors of honey, followed by a bit of spice (maybe cardamom ??), and ending with hints of orange citrus and malt. I don't think I've ever had a Tripel that was sweet like this one is. Most Tripels that I've tried are slightly sweet with a fair amount of alcohol flavor. This one is medium sweet with very little alcohol flavor. To be honest, the flavor profile is nothing like what I was expecting from the aromas. It's sweeter than I was expecting and has way less alcohol flavor. That's a win-win in my book!
MOUTHFEEL: The body is right on the edge of the medium/full bodied border, with a smooth texture and above average carbonation. This matches well with the smooth-and-thick texture that the honey flavor tends to illicit.
OVERALL: I have to admit that the musty/cheese aroma was a bit off-putting to me and I was sure that I was not going to enjoy the beer. However, after actually tasting the beer, my mind was completely changed. This is a delicious beer that I can find little fault with. Additionally, the musty/cheese aroma subsided soon after the head had completely dissipated. So the majority of the time I spent drinking the beer, I didn't have to deal with that aroma. In fact, after the head dissipated, the biggest scent I got was of honey. I bought a 4-pack, so we'll see if other bottles have the same aroma anomaly, or if this was just an isolated issue with this bottle. The only "issue" I can possibly come up with is that if someone handed me a glass of this and asked me to identify what type of beer it was, I would never, in a million years, guess that it was a Tripel. Is that a bad thing? For me, the answer is a resounding "No!". Actually, let me change that answer to, "Who cares? Give me another!!". There is no doubt that I will definitely be purchasing this again.

Bottle from Seijo Ishii. Malty, bready, biscuity nose. Spicy yeast, herbal and citrus hops, but very malty rich. Clear, deep gold. Very sweet, malty, biscuity, honey, some lemon and orange, bitter, muddled finish. Heavy, thick, and bitter. Starts all right but crashes quickly.

Bottle from Seijo Ishii. Clear medium to deep gold with a tall head and vigorous effervescence. Spicy, lemony, bready nose, orange, lemon, bread, touch of honey, touch of oxidation. Lemony, a bit sweet, light yeast character, honey, biscuits. A bit heavy and sweet for the style, and I suppose not particularly fresh (this is the one Belgian style that really should be fresh). Not bad.
