Bottle at Cotteridge Convention thanks to Leighton. It pours ultra pale gold with a small white head. The nose is pale grainy action, soft, paper, sugar and buttered white bread. The taste is sweet, grainy, cheap white bread, paper and sugary syrup with a short finish. Light body and soft carbonation. Simple pale lager that errs a bit on the sweet side. Basic.

Bottle shared at the Cotteridge Convention 2014. Pours perfectly clear yellow with a creamy, white head. Sugary beer, with notes of white bread, light straw, cereal, lemon meringue. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sugary white bread finish, almost no bitterness. Meh.

24th Jan 2015. Cotteridge RateBeer meet. Cheers Leighton for bringing a new country tick for me and a few others. Shared between too many of us, it looked like a lager/pilsner, clear golden and bright, on top a white fading head. Corn and grainy taste, almost odourless: nothing more to add!

Pours a very pale golden color, clear, topped with a nice white frothy head. A mild malty aroma, some sweet grainy notes also in there. Taste is crisp, not sweet nor bitter, but with some mild grainy notes. Very unoffensive and really not that bad when it’s ice cold.

It’s not often that you can definitively say a beer is the worst in a country but in Honduras’ case Barena takes the cake. Sourish and tinny with a lot of essential flaws. Gets progressively worse as it warms up. Can in Utila.
