Description
Outer Range Brewing is a community-driven microbrewery in the small mountain town of Frisco, Colorado. Co-founder and Head Brewer Lee Cleghorn’s love of craft beer began when he lived in Belgium as a teenager, where the first beers he ever drank were world-class Belgian ales. That background has served as inspiration for his IPAs, which showcase the ester profile of these traditionally hop-forward beers. A graduate of the American Brewers Guild Brewing Science and Engineering school in Vermont, Lee runs Outer Range with his wife and co-founder Emily, who is the Chief Marketing Officer and leads the brewery’s branding, marketing, and sales efforts. They met while homebrewing beer together ten years ago, and today, brew for and with a passionate community who lives at the intersection of craft beer and the outdoor mountain lifestyle.

Pint Can. Pours a slightly hazy piss yellow color with a small fizzy white head . The aroma is rather weak and indistinct with some faint cereal grains and a touch of citrus. The flavor was equally understated with weak grain and citrus notes. Bitterness is mild. The palate was light and over-carbonated with fizzy/prickly carbonation. Finishes short and forgettable.

16 oz. can. Pours a hazy, yellow color, with a fair, bubbly, white head. The aroma is juniper, marigold, grapefruit zest, old books, and lemon peel. Dry and pithy, with a sharp, sticky bitterness. Medium body, very astringent, and dusty. Quite assertive and interesting.

Poured up on tap at Tipsy Cactus where it exhibits a clear gold colored body that supports a white head of foam. The aroma offers up banana and cloves and then some apple like esters. Tastes same. Just odd banana notes mixed with a bit of apple to pear like esters. Luckily it wasn't too sweet. So there's that. I poured a fair amount of it down the sink in the Tipsy Cactus bathroom. Terrible Kölsch.

Pint can. Peach aroma with notes of nectarine, tangerine, grapefruit, orange and grassy hops. Pours hazy golden colored with a large white head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with juicy peach, tangerine and orange citrus flavors. Finishes dry, but still quite smooth with nectarine, grapefruit and grassy hop flavors. Decent hazy.
