Single from Appalachian ($3.30). Side by side with the NA version, ...which was horrible. 8/26/24 canning.
Dark brown on black, tall & lingering cocoa head.
Nose is all cocoa & dark fruit, slightly sharp.
Taste is dense cocoa, medium roast coffee, burnt berries, bittersweet belly, thin & slightly sweet endtrails. Lovely beer.
Frothy, sharp, slick, just roasty enough, easy for 8%, ends mostly dry & wanting.
So great, relatively cheap & easy.

Single from Bottlecraft in Northpark, along with regular Dark Star. Pint glass at home. Best By 02.04.28 ...wtf?!
Black on brown pour, extra sticky, tall head.
Heavy cigarettes & dark fruit, kinda ugly nose. Less than redeeming.
Watery, medium roast coffee, some winces of dark fruit, lingering coffee astringency.
Super thin, acidy, burnt toast.
Trash NA.

Bright. Thin head. Bitter, some weediness. Malts are thin, a bit husky. Hmmm, I’d actually like a bit more malt to this.

Can 35,5 cl. Pours black with an orange hue and a tiny, beige head. Greasy aroma, paired with notes of cocoa powder. Thin body, slightly tart, no roastiness, faint cocoa but hardly any flavors at all. Fizzy though. 210825

Apparently this is the final iteration. Cloudy, medium head. Slight woody, pine, touch of citrus. Full oaty body. Moderate bitterness. Gets a bit weedy in the end.

At Groundswell with the wife.
Bright golden stance pour, wispy lace.
Dank, preserved lemon, herbal hop nose.
Lemon herbal, apple hookah, saltines, backend has a ton of white grapefruit pith, mild oxidation.
Crispy, dry but didn't love it.
