Description
Fremont Brewing was born of our love for our home and history as well as the desire to prove that beer made with the finest local ingredients – organic when possible --, is not the wave of the future but the doorway to beer's history. Starting a brewery in the midst of the Great Recession is clearly an act of passion. We invite you to come along with us and enjoy that passion -- because beer matters.

Can shared by Joes. Opaque black color, small off-white to beige head. Aroma is malts, chocolate, cocoa powder. Flavor is malts, cocoa powder, chocolate lightly, soft bourbon. Rather sweet. Not bad but not great.

Ol reliable delicious licorice stout even for those that don't like licorice. Soft chocolatey coconut licorice vibes all over. Perfect mouthfeel as always.

Dark brown. No head. Soft body, and it's quite sweet. I definitely get that maple. Light cinnamon, vanilla as well. Good body. Balanced to the sweet side, but the nuances from the barrel aren't bad. I don't know what it was like fresh but for three years old it seems a bit older than that, maybe picking up some oxidation. Nothing stands out here - there's a good base, some fun elements, but doesn't have a high level.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has some star anise (almost root beer-like), some cinnamon, and gentle bourbon. Flavour is a bit jumbled, with bourbon barrels, a touch of maple, some cinnamon, and some earthiness. This seems more like an incoherent blend than something expertly curated. It’s good, since the base components are good, but the result isn’t as great as the components.

650mL bottle. Pours black with a beige head. Bourbon barrels, burnt maple sugar, cinnamon, a touch of spiced rum on the nose. Flavour has bourbon barrels, maple sugar, spiced rum, some cinnamon. A bit chaotic and all over the place; I want to like it but it just really come together that well.
