Description
The history of the brewery Achouffe is like a fairy tale. "A hobby became a profession in its own right," joke the founders Chris Bauweraerts and Pierre Gobron. The two friends begin their brewing operations in 1982 in the small Ardennes village Achouffe. In 2006 the enterprise was taken over by Duvel Moortgat Brewery. The brewery is still an independently run operation, though the 33cl bottles are bottled in Breendonk.

With it's typical Chouffe taste i like this beer, though it's not as strong as the original Chouffe. But this beer is a good alternative in the summertimes!

Amber coloured with an impressive head. Light mouthfeel. Some alcohol-flavour but it never gets disturbing.

This winterbrew by Chouffe did not fill me with enjoyment. The traditional chouffe taste was not well balanced and the alcohol content is just too present. A bit of a disappointment after all those great chouffe brews :-(

Cloudy dark amber color. Nice malt aroma and body, with some liquorice; really harmonious, smoother flavor than Mc Chouffe, and a nice, light aftertaste of Fernet Branca.

It has the typical chouffe taste in it, so the chouffe-taste compensates for the weak blond beer. This is the chouffe that is the least good.

Tan colour, yeasty, herbal, peachy-malt aromas and flavours, and its lively, refreshing body. I'd call this one a saison.

I will admit that my recollections of this beer are not what they should be (stupid Amsterdam), but I do recall that it looked cool, had a refreshing, vibrant taste, and that I really enjoyed it.

Typically bombastic Achouffe yeastiness, and loads of malt. Nice Belgian barley wine.

Medium brown colour with a thick, billowy head. Aroma of yeast, wood, prunes, figs, toffee and bog myrtle. Spicy, yeasty tones overly a rich toffeeish, earthy maltiness. Sweet demerara and deglet noor finish. Sturdy alcoholic punch comes in late. Quality brew, and after 2 years in the cellar it emerges as a world classic.
