In 2006 Nils Oscar outgrows the premises on Kungsholmen and the brewery moves to Fruängskällan in Nyköping, we feel at home here. When the brewery has reached its maximum capacity of 1,000,000 litres in 2013, another expansion starts, out with the old and in with the new. We now have a modern brewery and equipment that makes us very quality assured.

First ratingBottle, several times during 2004 and 2005.This was the first Barley Wine I tried and I got hooked at once. Nice dark color, strong scent and taste, good bite from the warming alcohol. It might not be for everyone, but if you are looking for a Barley Wine, I can recommend it for sure.8/5/8/4/18=4.3RerateBottle, 2002 vintageSampled on February 26, 2011Clear copper color, white head. Rating added 3/8/2006 (updated 9/27/2008)Draught at The Rover in Gothenburg, Sweden. First time I try it from the tap, even though I’ve had it on bottle several times.I find it similar to the bottled version, though my previous ratings might have been a bit too high. (see below).Deep amber color. Light beige creamy lasting head. Lots of fresh hoppy scent of citrus. Big bitterness initially, fruity aftertaste and faint lingering bitterness. Larger than medium mouthfeel. Nice refreshing citrus hops in the taste, no distinct malt taste.8/4/8/4/17=4.1 Bottle some time in 2005Very nice scent and taste, as well as huge bitterness. Black with a light brown head. Chocolate and dried fruit aroma. Rich, burned and bitter flavour with only little chocolate sweetness. Dry, roast malt aftertaste. One year old bottle: Nothing to add, really. Still awesome.

(Bottled) Colour is brown, with a hint of amber, little head. Nose is big, roasted and fruity, with lots of malt and dried fruit. Taste is roasted, dominated by dark chocolate, toffee and dried fruit. Sweet and a bit syrupy. Hops are evident in the finish, but the malt, chocolate and fruit dominate. Very nice! But wasn’t this even better a couple of years ago?

Bottled. Dark brown to black colour, thick brown head. Very roasted nose, sweetish with black coffe. Espresso with lots of sugar. Taste is roasted, deep, with chocolate, black coffee and black rye bread, some dried fruit and liquorice as well. Stunning stuff! Rerate: (draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 26 Feb 2007, vintage unknown, but probably not very young) Black colour with brief, brown head. Roasted nose with chocolate, some smoke, tobacco, liquorice and hints of tar. Roasted taste with chocolate (a bit like Ben & Jerry’s chocolate ice-cream with chocolate chunks), cocoa and notes of coffeeish bitterness. Medium to full body, smooth as velvet and in fantastic balance.

First rating from January 2006Black, pitch black color. Brown head. Chocolate scent and a very burnt dominating flavor. When it comes down to an Imperial Stout, this is as close to perfection as I’ve ever tasted it! I’ve tried it on bottle and from the tap, on various different occasions, the conclusion is that it’s one of the best beers around that I’ve tasted. I’ve brought it with me to friends in Germany and Mexico to spread the taste, and it’s been much appreciated.9/5/9/4/19=4.6Second rating33 cl bottle at Café 3 Små Rum, Göteborg. On March 1, 2008Pitch black color, brown head. Amber, tanned creamy low head. Fruity malt and aromatic hop (pine) nose. Light body, nice fruity/berrylike and aromatic, but also a bit unfortunate cardboardy malt note. Fruity aftertaste.
