On tap at Molto’s 4th Anniversary. A pale straw gold with a dense head of egg white foam. It’s got a nice rich orange grove aroma. Medium to full bodied the taste is a sharp almost acidic pithy citrus that is surprisingly bitter seeming at first but gives more fruit & spice notes as it warms. Refreshing though and not at all what I was expecting based on my memories of the regular Shonan Gold which is quite sweet. 3.6-7

pale golden color. Big frothy head. Amazingly fresh orange rinds in the nose with orange rind bitterness - like bitter. Super clean. Great nose. Malty, super full of oranges, tart tons of orange rinds. Medium full body. Fantastic

Tap at Watering Hole (their 4th Anniversary). Poured quite clear yellow, does not look like a strong body -and it isn’t. Aroma has loads of fruits, loads off oranges. Taste has the same plus massive grapefruit seed bitterness there as well. Quite flavourful for the relatively watery body. Not really sweet, liked it.

Tap at Watering Hole for 4th Anniversary. Endless iyokan and juicy grapefruit notes. Light bodied but with so much fruit. Easy drinking without any bitterness really. Not sweet at all, quite fruity and juicy with a lovely dry finish. Tap at Keyaki. Sweet apples in the nose. Cloudy-ass and nasty looking. Nearly unfermented apple juice flavor with some booziness and funk. this is horrible.

Bottle with KBL. Smells oxidized, but I guess that is the tea. Rounded caramel, grass, pine. High carbonation, muddy ass orange-gold, with lace. Sweet biscuit and honey, huge bitterness, pine, earthy, grassy, a bit of cabbage. The tea functions quite strangely, comes off as oxidation. Very astringent.

Bottle from the brewery, served in a pint glass. It’s a very cloudy, well opaque, golden honey brown with a thick filmy off white head. The aroma on this is really nice: fruity hops combined with spices - I get something like oregano from it and some earthiness.
Quite full bodied, in the initial it’s very earthy, pine, some sweet citrus but man in the aftertaste that bitter tea quality really kicks in. The aftertaste is woodsy, earthy, bark, pine, some citrus. It’s not as insanely bitter as I expected after a few sips but I predict that it will cummulatively build up.
I love this wacky April Fool’s Day Series from Sankt Gallen and can’t wait to see what they cook up for next year.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Huge sakura mochi and cinnamon nose with some sticky, bready malts and floral notes. Taste is sweet and strong sakura mochi essence but the beery, malty flavors are there. This is not alcopop, but on the other hand it’s not very good. Although halfway through I paired it with some macha ice cream and it was a nice combination. Why Sankt Gallen? I thought I’d already added my rating. Bottle from the brewery. Sankt Gallen’s 2016 limited flavor is a Strawberry Chocolate Stout 6.5% This beer poured a deep black with one of the densest heads of beige foam I’ve seen. Awesome. The aroma is bang on strawberries & cream merged with chocolate. Medium to full bodied with a chalky mouthfeel and pin-prickly carbonation. The taste is decently balanced, roasty, chocolate, fresh strawberries, chocolate with more strawberry in the finish but not cloyingly sweet like most strawberry beers I’ve had. Well done Sankt Gallen.

Bottle from Foodshow in Shibuya shared at Tokyo Ratebeer Dark Tickers of World Unite Tasting. Guava and grapefruit all over the nose with some light passion fruit. Nose is really bright and juice-like. Thin body with average carbonation. Doesn’t taste as punchy as the nose. Some weird red-bull or monster energy drink moves as it warms. Not bad, but a little weird. Proceed with caution.
