Bottle from a trade with BlackIPA. Pours clear copper color with off white head. Toasted malt aroma with some earthy, piney hops. Toasted malt flavor with some nuttiness, earthiness, and biscuit. Some bitter pine hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Thanks Shawn.

Bottle from a trade with BlackIPA. Pours clear medium brown color with tan head. Coffee aroma with some chocolate and roasted malt. Coffee and milk chocolate flavor with burnt malts. Flavor is a little too roasty for me. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Thanks Shawn.

Hazy deep amber coloured body with a muddy brown tint and a thinnish, light off-white head. Aroma of alcohol, fruit, malt, citrus and a touch of light hops. Medium-bodied; Assertive malty flavour with some nuts, earth, nutmeg and a light peaty flavour. Medium-bodied; Strong nuts and a good herbal and citrus hoppy note show mostly in the aftertaste with a little alcohol and earth at the very end. Overall, a nice and rather complex beer for the style with a decent amount of hops - surprisingly nice! I sampled this 65 cL bottle alongside smoked brisket (a good pairing) purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2012 for US$6.99 sampled on 14-April-2012 at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Pours deep blood orange into a Sam glass. Off-white head with excellent retention recedes leaving spot lacing to coat surface. Sweet resin and tropical fruit aromas. Medium bodied with sweet caramel upfront turning to bitter grapefruit and resin in the lasting finish.

ChrisOs Early December Tasting. Light haze on this gold beer. Little off white head. Smooth semi dry palate. Fair bit of pale malt. Nice pine and citrus hops with a good balance between them. Semi dry finish with some bitter linger. Decent.

Super hazy, honey coloured copper and bright orange hues with a thinnish creamy tan head. Aroma of fresh hops, curacao, citrus, grapefruit and a bit of sugar. Medium-bodied; Assertive hops up front that fade to a cardboardie malt with very little else - perhaps some citrus and sugars. Aftertaste is very mild with only a little hops at first and then a big vast nothingness. Overall, a good smelling and tasting (at first) beer, but there is absolutely no depth and no complexity at all with this one. Still, nice to try it from Custom Brewcrafters (I used to live up there), but this isn’t really worth searching out. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$6.99 sampled at home in Washington on 08-March-2012.

Tap @ Chapter House, Ithaca. Clear, light golden appearance with a fluffy, off-white head. Lightly resiny, somewhat spicy, slightly piney hoppy, toasted malty aroma. Tangy, tangerine citrusy, bitter hoppy, cracker malty flavor.

Black liquid with thick, full tan head in an English Pint glass. Respectable retention. Nose is espresso and roasted notes. I served this at cellar temperature and the nose was light and subdued. I never would have guessed how much flavor I was about to experience. Caramel malt, dark chocolate and a lingering coffee toward the end of the sip. I also pick up vanilla notes. Body is a bit thin however, for me it just means I can drink more. Overall, it is an enjoyable porter that I would purchase again. 22 oz. bottle from Table and Vine for $7.99.
