1/VI/17 - 33cl bottle from Zythos Bierfestival 2017 (Leuven) @ home - BB: 3/I/19 (2017-699)
Little cloudy orange beer, creamy irregular pale yellowish head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: little fruity, some citrus, kiwi notes, bit yeasty. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sweet start, fruity notes, soft bitterness, some tropical fruits, but all very faint. Aftertaste: fruity, sourish notes, sweet an malty, some marzipan. If there was a lot of the mentioned hops used, then by now they seem to have fainted away mostly... :(

26/V/17 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent), shared @ Cybus Beer & BBQ - BB: n/a, bottled: VII/2016 (2017-647)
Clear blond beer, creamy white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: fruity, sweet impression, some yeast, malty, grains. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sourish, some brett, fruity, funky, yeast, grains. Aftertaste: bitter, hops, yeast, floral, bit funky. Even though this bottle only just came into the shop last month, it seems as if this brewing company is selling their old stock to the bottle shops. Obviously there is not a single trace left of the citra and mosaic hops after 9 months. Thats a shame... :(

Bottle @ home shared by TomHendriksen. Clear golden color, small to average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, a bit sweetish, somewhat yeasty, slight orangepeel hints in the distance. Meh.

Another one in this rapidly expanding Enigma series, at ZBF. Apparently intended as a strong-ish saison ’pimped’ with a very attractive quartet of fruity new hop varieties. Off-white, loosely structured, thin head quickly reduced to some loose bubbles, clear golden hue with deep amberish, warm glow to it. Aroma of baked sweet apples, gooseberries, honey, nectarine juice and passion fruit lemonade (the Galaxy?), camomile tea, pineapple and some faint DMS (cooked cabbage). Sweet, very apple-ish onset, peach and melon with a gooseberry sourish touch, grainy and very lightly caramelly malt middle with ongoing, honeyish sweetness of residual sugars on top of it, way too much so for a saison; this sweetness lasts till the end, insufficiently ’dried’ by the hops, which do release some retronasal fruit and (tropical) flower notes, but rather subtly so. I do not see what this beer has to do with saison: this is a classic Belgian strong blonde made modern with New World hops, which do not get the credit they deserve and remain understated. Like a thinner, softer, lighter, far less expressive and technically less accomplished relative of Musketeers’ Troubadour Magma or something in that neighborhood... I can see potential in this, but it will need finetuning - and most of all, get rid of the saison connotation, which will bring nothing but confusion to the more educated consumer.

Very dark brown with no head. Aroma and flavour have some floral and sweet notes. It’s like the soft drink Dandelion & Burdock

Clear golden colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have a lot of sweet malts but enough bitterness to keep it in balance.

Thank you for sharing German speaking RB Crew! Sampled bottled @ ZBF 2017. Nice clear golden, creamy white head. Nose is weird sweet vegetable, candy, oil, low butter, soap, grain. Taste is soap, candy, sweet, sugar, butter,.. Body is rubbish soap, candy, vegetable oil,... Rather poor.
