Description
The Genesee Brewing Company, based in Rochester, New York, is one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in the United States. It was founded by Mathius Kondolf, one of Rochester’s early entrepreneurs, after purchasing the Reisky & Spies Brewery (since 1857), changing its name to The Genesee Brewery.

The Genesee Brewing Company is since 2012 part of FIFCO USA, the largest independently owned beer company in the United States. With a focus on product quality, facility upgrades (including the relighting of the iconic Genesee Beer & Ale sign), conservation initiatives and employee safety, FIFCO USA has invested in the Genesee family of beers, its employees and the community.

In 2012 The Genessee Brew House was created to capture and share with you the long history of The Genesee Brewery - one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in America.

Notes from January 2011 .99c can from Whole Foods just because I forgot what it tasted like. Just got done with a bigger beer, so I expect this to rightly leave me less then satisfied, but continuing on that familiar path. Rounded pint glass. Shiny, gold, active brew. Four fingers of lather. Smells like steeped grains, minor fruit phenols, aluminum & a touch of table sugar. Odd flash of plastic/clove laced malt in front. Overall taste is very much like soggy white bread. Crust is nicely toasted. No butter. Crispy lettuce. Barely a touch of acidity. Good bubbly. Frothy. More & more cracker through the finish. Pretty clean, that deserves something. You can do better, but it's nice filler I think.

Notes from May 2011 2.99/5 rDev +11.6% look: 3.5 - smell: 2 - taste: 3 - feel: 4 - overall: 3.5 .89 cent tallboy from Keyfood. Managed to resist the urge to chug it right there in the store. Rounded pint glass. Clear, golden straw color. Flimsy white wash head. Smell is sticky beer residue, compost, margarine, & some straw. Half sharp bittersweet malt upfront. Light herbal bitterness. Dry grainy/onion-y sweetness on the finish. Crisp, but a touch slick at times. A little dirty, but the cheapest thing I can find now since the gouging went into full effect.

From the pictured pounder can. Off the baragain buck shelf at JR's. Pour is big and black with a nice dark choco moose head, quite pretty. Head fades, nose is a mild metallic almost neutral aroma. Palate is less viscous than most famous stouts I've tasted. First big taste is certainly impy. However, it comes across as less thick and more acceptable to me compare to other impies. In reality, perhaps its more like a baltic porter. Maybe because its 'only' got 8%, hehehheh. Good initial intro to imperial stouts, especially for lager lovers who never tasted one before. I find this to be a very nice impy stout for a macro beer company, it even has decent carbonation. Yes, one of the more acceptable hi powered stouts, considering I don't really like the style; unless of course, yer trying for a quick beer buzz.

On tap at Tap It Bar and Grille outside of Rochester NY Just a touch of chill haze in an otherwise clear light gold beer with a thin white head that slowly recedes. More peach than mango but pretty tasty easy to drink beer.

Mango hits you right away and the peach leaves a lingering sweetness, almost like peach rings. Tasty.
