Description
Brewing bold beers from our hilltop in Hebden Bridge and pouring punchy pints from our very own taprooms. We’re resolutely in the business of setting standards, not following trends.

Almost clear amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, the carbonation level for a bottled beer is weak. Malts being slightly stodgy caramel sweetness. Hops bring skunky pine and mild bitterness. Trace of ripe fruits. Light finish. The lack of carbonation generally makes this one feel stodgy and after the stellar Heart and Soul, this was quite a disappointment.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a thick creamy head. Lots of tropical fruit to be had here in both aroma and taste with a small citrus sourness attached. Light, and dangerously easy drinking.

Craft Clerkenwell. Cask. Clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, mild fine carbonation. Very light pale malts, mildly sweet. Hops are resinous orange with good marmalade. Light pine and a trace of hop spice. Finishes smooth and dry. Good peel and grapefruit bitter linger. Another well hopped beer from this great new brewery.

Craft Clerkenwell. Cask. Clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry. Decent fine carbonation. Very light pale malts, mild sweetness. Hops bring smooth and slightly sweet pine and mild hop skunk. Resinous grapefruit and light tangy fruits, little tangerine. Bottle - very light pale malts, mildly sweet. Hops are a stunning combo of pine, pineapple and winey gooseberry . Touches of hop spice, generic tropical fruits and a whisper of mint. Wow! If I have had a better one of these so called Session IPAs I can’t recall it. As I suspected, cask did not do this beer any favours, so much better in a bottle.

Craft Clerkenwell. Cask. Clear deep amber - brown beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Thin but robust dark malts, some roast but not too much sweetness. Hops are pretty bitter, but also bring good citric fruits and a little tropical fruits. Light finish. Strong bitter linger. Good cask CDA, no shrinking violet!

Cask at CASK. It pours near black with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, sticky, chocolate, dandelion & Burdock, sweaty, resinous, dank and charred wood. The taste is bitter-sweet, bitter pine, some astringency, resin, charred wood, rocky road, varnish, dirty, citrus rind, peppery, chocolate, tar, burnt treacle, dark fruits and booze with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Chewy stuff. Punchy, but a bit rough around the edges.

Cask at the CP&K, 02/06/15, thanks to LKS for the nod. Dark mahogany brown with a decent beige covering that retains well. Nose is light charr, pine needle, light floral, earthy hop, tropical fruit notes, caramel, light Ribena berry. Taste comprises perfumed notes, charr, liquorice stick, light cocoa, earthy hop presence, pine resin, shades of parma violets. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with semi aggressive hop bitterness. Decent cask XDA, quite bitter but contrasts with a perfumed / floral effect. Re rate can 23/03/16. More pine bite, charr, earthy hop, bitter citric, light pine. Sharper and cleaner than the cask offering I rated first. Solid XDA. Original 3.4 new 3.7.
