Cask, handpump at a The White Horse, Banbury Beer Festival Meeting, Monday 13th January 2014 Amber in colour a little murky, malty in the mouth. As Glen correctly noted it is a touch tired perhaps, however it is still quite agreeable. Tangy, fruity and with a few things going on in the mouth, it is fine if somewhat predictable. Cask at Aldenham Toby Carvery, Watford. Bit of a surprise this one- not just a cask ale in decent condition at a Toby Carvery, but also a Christmas beer by one of the big regionals thatโs actually not completely gopping. It poured a reddish-amber with a thick cream head. It starts out with a rich fruitiness- orange and blackberry perhaps- with caramel behind and a touch of spice. A light but well-balanced earthy bitterness follows. Its not earth-shattering but ad UK Christmas ales go this is really quite pleasant.
