12oz bottle picked up near the brewery in September of 2010, opened March 2011, which assumably makes it the 2009 edition. Faint non-hiss when opened and accompanying mild, almost non-existent carbonation level. Murky red-brown. The aroma is classic Barleywine, deep mollases soaked amber malt. A pretty well executed offering, much better fresh and carbonated I’d bet. As it is it comes off a little like watery honey mead. OK.

Draft. Unfiltered orange-tan. Thin off-white head that rims the glass. Big blueberry aroma. Light to medium bodied. Enjoyable standard blueberry beer, nice and easy. Not much going on besides the borderline artificial blueberry taste. Sessionable and OK, but not worth bar price.

Draft at the brewpub. Hazy golden-yellow with a thick, creamy white head. Herbal and spicy, not really so true to style. Some mellow yeasty tones, light soapiness as well. Restrained, approaching watery mouthfeel in line with most of their other products. Lemon-pepper. Medium to full bodied. OK, but nowhere near World Class. Score seems a little higher than it deserved.

Bottle from the brewpub. Pours very dark amber with some beige/tan bubbles. Dark fruit, almost prune, aromas. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is dark fruit, brown sugar, perhaps a little hop. Overall a bit thinnish and a bit undersweet for a barley wine. But it turns out well.
