Description
Fort George Brewery + Public House sits on the original settlement site of Fort Astoria, founded in 1811. The oldest US settlement west of the Rockies, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's primary trading post in the Northwest. Fort George opened its doors to Astoria as both a brewery and a public house, and that desire to serve the community continues to this day. The brewers and pub staff here share a common goal, to create a welcoming space where anyone in town can pull up a stool and enjoy a pint and a bite to eat. We take pride in our house-made offerings and our hospitality, and we’re always looking for improvements that bring us one step closer to perfection. It’s a goal Sisyphus could appreciate, even if he doesn’t have as much fun pushing that rock as we do rolling those kegs. And that’s why we like to call Fort George beer the best beer you’ve had today. Tomorrow it will only be better.

Slightly hazy amber. Lots of citrusy, fruity, woody hops...an indistinct blend of bright notes that tickles the nostrils. Chewy, resiny finish though the middle is weak on the malts. Woodsy hops glide throughout. Not half bad.

Very dark brown. Aroma shows an overtoasted harsh graininess. Big wonky alcohol and fruitiness on this one...a little paint thinner and pear for fun. Sweetish overall and a slightly fudgey finish.

Cloudy reddish-amber, really fresh crystal malt aroma, like brewing day (it isn’t). Sweet, caramel/toffee character shows chocolate and crystal nuances. Some off-fruity notes hint at abbreviated fermentation but the beer is mostly quality.

Light amber, loose head. Smells oaty. Light bread with hints of date are the only good things I got, the rest was harsh astringency. Something did not come together on this one.

Don’t know if this is a series or not but I had a strawberry/rhubarb version. Hazy amber. Plasticy notes and higher alcohols on the slightly fruity nose. Very sweet - stuck or incomplete ferment. Vague fruitiness with a bit of rhubarb. Cloying. Oi.

Hazy, yellow. Light malt accent with shades of spice. Quick is right...not much to talk about nor think about and it’s gone just like that.
