Description
Fort George Brewery + Public House sits on the original settlement site of Fort Astoria, founded in 1811. The oldest US settlement west of the Rockies, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's primary trading post in the Northwest. Fort George opened its doors to Astoria as both a brewery and a public house, and that desire to serve the community continues to this day. The brewers and pub staff here share a common goal, to create a welcoming space where anyone in town can pull up a stool and enjoy a pint and a bite to eat. We take pride in our house-made offerings and our hospitality, and we’re always looking for improvements that bring us one step closer to perfection. It’s a goal Sisyphus could appreciate, even if he doesn’t have as much fun pushing that rock as we do rolling those kegs. And that’s why we like to call Fort George beer the best beer you’ve had today. Tomorrow it will only be better.

Hazy orange body with thin white head. Citrusy aroma. Hoppy taste with a malt bit and a finish that leaves in the middle.

On tap. Pours black with full tan head. Aromas of chocolate fudge. Flavors of extra creamy coffee, chocolate fudge and chocolate icing. Is this beer? OK, a fantastic creamy chocolate liqueur. I’d hate to know the residual sugars…

Can purchased at Gourmet Haus. Dated October 8, 2024. Pours hazy light yellow-straw with white head that fades to a poofy monkey-shaped cap (thanks to my daughter Audrey for that description). Aroma is tropical fruit and slight dirt and grass from the fresh hop. Flavor is overt burst of citrus followed by chewy meadow and yeast support in the back palate. Slight orange push-up in the end of the flavor as it warmed. Creamy mouthfeel.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Clear, light amber pour, small cap of off-white head. Aroma is sweet and some savory notes, orange peel. Taste brings light cinnamon and nutmeg, the pumpkin spice very mellow, a mere accent to the nice malty beer
