Tap at Drinkøteka Prague. Almost clear golden body, thickish off-white head gone soon. Fun aroma, sugary, caramelly orange yet slightly vibrant. Sourish enough taste, but sweetish too, bit caramelly orange again, yet juicy. Fun really, drinkable, exactly what it purports to be. Very hateable, don't hate it.

Can from Eddy's Beverage, Inc., Saratoga Springs. Opaque root beer brown with ephemeral thin head, light sparkle and viscosity, trace lacing. Aroma is strong birch beer, root beer, vanilla. Taste is strong birch beer, commingled with base roasted malt, late sarsaparilla and mild vanilla. Smooth, thick texture, full bodied, soft carbonation and finish as taste. More birch beer than root beer but that may be splitting hairs. They basically got what they were going for. The roasted malt didn't mesh perfectly with the root/birch beer but finds its way. Only need to have one--kind of gimmicky, but enjoyable.

Life can be full of pluses and minuses. The plus here is the label, interestingly colorful. The minus is the name of the beer unless I see an explanation later. But all this has nothing to do with the contents so let us proceed. My tulip glass from a throwback Ft. Worth brewery receives the pour and I determine a cloudy, yellow-orange body topped by a thin skim of almost white foam. The nose is orange marmalade, citrus and a touch of pine. And the drink, well, this is not bad. Some hoppiness early, orange peel, grain, a small grapefruit influence, dankness surprisingly and a tangerine sweetness. Pretty nice, I let this one warm up for a while and the various tastes came through distinctly.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear dark brown with a moderate, transient tan head. Aroma of peppermint and coffee. Arguably med body. Not very malty. There's enough peppermint to stand in for bitterness. Coffee is fairly strong. A bit weird IMHO, but the flavor is not overwhelming. Actually pretty nice.

Tasting at CBJ, thanks to Fergus. A light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Airy smooth palate, mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. A light creamy sweetness. Soft pine. Candyish hop fruits. Mild skunk. Comes together well enough.

16 ounce can from Tavour. Hazy orange gold pour. Large, pillowy off-white head. Aromas of citrus and stone fruit. Flavor is juicy and boozy. Notes of melon, citrus and apricot. Added notes of warming alcohol, grapefruit pith and peppery hops on backend. A bit too boozy for my enjoyment.

16 oz can to glass courtesy of my mother in law. The pour is a black brown, opaque, 1 1/2 inch khaki head that is rocky and lasting. Nice splotchy lace left behind. The aroma is soft roast malt, nice soft toffee malt sweetness and resin pine. The taste is bright resin pine up front, hint of citrus, with the roast malt and toffee behind, with flavors nicely integrated. The palate is medium bodied with soft natural carbonation and the pine resin crisp finish, along with additional roast and mineral to the after taste. Solid Black IPA.
