Description
BridgePort produces a variety of international style ales, including IPA. BridgePort’s ales are naturally conditioned in the bottle, keg, or cask from which they are served - they’re never force carbonated. The natural conditioning creates ale that is smooth, naturally carbonated, and full of flavor.

Today, BridgePort Brewing Company is one of the top specialty brewers in the state of Oregon. As BridgePort Brewing grew in popularity, it also grew in its brewing capacity from its 600-barrel beginnings to over 100,000 barrels per year. Distribution has grown from Portland to 18 states, and the brewery’s emphasis on producing quality, innovative ales has provided it with an international following and numerous awards.

I poured this into a pint glass.
The appearance has a nice golden amber color that comes across semi-transparent allowing a delicate carbonation to be seen rising. There’s a one finger white foamy head that levels out and leaves some nice adequate lacing sticking finely to the sides of the glass.
The smell has a nice sweet malt base coming through over top of some bitter citra hops. For the most part, I like it.
The taste is mainly sweet through the malts as the hops tend to take somewhat of a backseat here. There’s a super dry somewhat malty aftertaste that leads to a dry bitter finish.
On the palate, this one sits about a light to medium in body and has a semi-decent sessionability surrounding it.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good beer worthy of having again.

Bomber from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours cloudy copper with a transient near white head. Fruits de bois. Wild fruits assaulting my nose. Not wild as in wilderness, but as in wow! Med body. Flavor is tart. Yes. Berry. Yes. Sweet. Not on your life. Astringent. Oh yeah! There’s a little malt way, way down below. Mostly this is dry, astringent berries. Very nice beer. Go BridgePort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12 oz bottle, thanks to Justin at Capones Hayden. Aroma is pretty vague, but there’s a little dough, vegetal notes, wet river rock. Pours hazy orange with a two finger off-white head with good retention, leaving some lace. Taste is bittersweet with a lingering bitter finish. Not getting much citrus or tropical notes at all. Seems like the hops are here for bitterness and that’s about it. Highly carbonated, medium body. Simple ale that could have been so much better. Still it’s not all that bad, just very ordinary.

Bottle - hazy light orange - faint lace - nose of citrus, mint, herbal tea, dandelion, but also a light note of corny DMS - thankfully, the flavor seems absent of this - mostly moderately malts that border between bready and crackery - some tangy/sweet orange flesh flavors - moderate bitterness and a somewhat strong acidic tang on the tail end - okay.

Bottle from Sugaya, shared at Takatsuki Jazz Street. Served in a mini-tulip glass. It pours somewhat pinkish but is a ruddy orange in the glass witbier a minimal beige head. The aroma is berries all the way. The taste is the same blackberries & raspberries though not so much blueberry flavor. Medium bodied with a slightly rough mouthfeel. A pretty good berry beer but a touch too syrupy sweet.

Bottle from Yamaichi. Salmon orange color, lightly hazy, low head. Nice hoppy nose: oranges, light peach, light pine, a bit of honey. Fruity, juicy, resiny flavor. Nice drinkable, with nice bready malts and medium body. Low carbonation. Nicely put together and enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a slight yellow hue and a white head that lasts through the beer. Aroma has light grassy hops and light citrus with light earthy pine and a earthy grain backing. Flavor has a bit more of a grapefruit note but is still mainly grass and earthy grains.

22oz Bottle. Hazy dingy light orange amber with a small but lasting off white head. Hoppy aroma but kind of stale and dusty. Notes of apricot. Light malty flavors, Some of that fruitiness again, but light papery as well and somewhat floral. About right for a middle of the road PA but not much of the citrusy west coast notes I was hoping for. Soft carbonation.
