Dark brown pour with small-bubbled, thick head that quickly diminishes. Lots or roasted malts in the nose in addition to coffee and caramel. Flavor is slightly sweet and bitter at the end — licorice, coffee, caramel. Watery texture, medium body. Slick mouthfeel. Dry finish. Tasty, but not all that interesting.

Clear amber wtih short, off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel and toast and some ripe apple. The flavor, too, is malty sweet, moderately so hinting at apples. Bitter finish, again moderately so. Medium body with smooth texture and lively carbonation. Bitter aftertaste. The flavors are more forward than other ESBs and the apple tartness and bitter hops clash in the finish.

Bottle. Poured black with thin brown head. Aroma of molasses, malt, cloves and banana. Taste of malt, oatmeal, molasses, milk and caramel. Finish drops off with little hoppiness, and much malt.

Hazy gold body, small-bubbled, white head. Sweet fruit, floral aroma. Some peach, some grapefruit, but mostly floral scent. The flavor is full of hops, slightly sweet, but mostly bitterand somewhat tart in the end. Velvet mouthfeel. Dry, medium-long finish. Solid IPA, better than average.

Bottle. Hazy sunset orange pour. Aroma of hops is big, though tasted is a bit more muted than I would have expected. Good solid IPA.

On tap at Bridgeport, Portland. Hazy copper with thin off white head. Lovely hop aroma, some earthiness, good fruit. Not sure what the fruit is, almost tropical and then I guess cascade style earthy hop finish. Nice

On tap at Bridgeport, Portland. Deep chestnut with beige thin head. Perfumed hop aroma on top of a strong alcohol, gorgeously fruity barley wine. Beautifully perfumed aroma, then this lovely fruity malt base (red fruits), strawberry and then a great dose of hops. Syrupy alcohol Some alcohol too. I had this and the Rogue Old Crustacean on same evening and difficult to split them.

On tap at Bridgeport, Portland. Black with disappearing tan head. Sour dark malt aroma. Again, a bit carbonated which gave it a thin feel in mouth. Nice liquorish flavour, bit of smoke, choccy liquorice, still excellent despite the lack of fullness in mouth.

On tap at Bridgeport, Portland. Amber colour with lasting off white head. Perfumed aroma. Slightly spicey. Bit empty on the malt. Some toffee, bit like an ESB, but not really. OK
