I took the bus from St Andrews to Dundee and entered the Counting House before noon to participate in Wetherspoons real ale festival. The half pint of this one on cask had a nice, deep amber body with laceworks on the glass. Floral to the nose. Peaches in the taste with a spicy touch, as well as nutty malts. Hop bitterness to the ending [Dundee, 07.11.2008].

From cask at the Counting House. Pours clear and golden orange to amber with a small yet dense white head. Light malty aroma. Slight fruity and vague ginger like spiced flavoured with a mild citric note and a bitterish bite into the finish. Smooth malty into the finish. Easy going brew.

Cask at The Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon Nov 2008. Pours dark amber. Taste is a little clinical almost chemically at times. Malty and bitter, some pushy fruit, could be a lot better but I wonder if this has only just gome on and they’ve not pulled enough through having cleaned the pipes, mmhhh.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Gold with a creamy off-white head; aroma of caramel and malt; the flavour amtches with caramel and slightly nutty soft malts; there is a gentle, but deep, earthy bitterness. Very drinkable.

Picked up at Belingers Jet Garage, Grove near Wantage, Oxon, consumed in Frank, camper 16-09-08 Pours looking quite a stunner lovely copper colour with a small white head and great clarity. Tastes good, rich cinder toffee touch of alcohol can overtake proceedings occasionally. This is quite heavy but for my first time on it I’m really quite happy with it.

Bottled@Chris O Post GBBF Tasting. Golden colour, not much head. Aroma is alcohol, malts and that’s pretty much it. Flavour is malts, harsh alcoholic sweetness with some grass in the finish.

Bottle, 9.1%. Very vinous aroma and quite sweet. Quite cloudy dark red colour. The flavour is quite vinous with some alcohol and bitterness. Quite flavourful, but still a bit rough, even though it is a year past BB date. 7 3 7 3 17
Bottle. Slightly oxidized aroma. Caramelly flavour. Quite alcoholic, very peppery, gets a bit rough. Not very complex, just alcoholic. 6 3 5 3 12
