Bottle sample @ ZBF’13 shared with the RB Belgian crew.

Small off-white head over fully hazy mossy-orange beer. Fruity, aromatic C-hops, grapes, citrus - especially grapefruit. Dry-fruity, exotic fruit, but served on a bit of dry neutral cereals. Very slick, oily MF, medium to well-bodied and well-carbonated. Yes, this is a good IPA. Sod the Be hops.

33 cl. bottle sampled @ ZBF 2013. Lovely promotional images, same as the label I suppose. Hazy orange amber with white head. Nose is grapefruit, some caramel, some toffee, light citrus, floral bitter,… Taste is fizzy malts, light grapefruits, touch citrus, some sweet caramel, lighter, also herbal bitterness, light yeast,… Body is too fizzy. Fair going at it.

27/IV/13 - 33cl bottle @ Zythos Bierfestival (2013-398) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing our beers today!

Cloudy orange beer, big creamy off-white head, bit stable, non adhesive. Aroma: grains, bit sweet and fruity, tangerines, some floral notes. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of grapefruit, citrus, tangerines, little sweet, a dirty yeasty touch, bitter, bit chemical. Aftertaste: lots of grapefruit, yet no overall fruity impression, orange peel, little bitter, dirty ending. Did not like.

Note: retasted the beer on Sunday as well, and it could please me more. Quite a lot of passion fruit flavours in it as well, although it lacked a sweet malty base.

Medium, very uniform white head over slightly veiled, finely bubbled old-golden beer; faint lace. Lactic nose, with a bit of astringency announced. Thick-set, nearly immovable head seriously hampers smelling. Bit wry-bitterish, yet grainy flavour, as bread gotten wet or made with poor quality flour. Bitterness, thankfully not exaggerated, is crude, metallic, indifferent. Feels fizzy, very highly carbonated. Rather light body, faintly slick. Probably too bitter for the average private (=soldaat), but IMO completely to the image of the Lord Mayor of the honourable LeopoldsBurgh: crisped, embittered, and utterly dull.

2012 Vintage. 33 cl. bottle @ Bier Central. Sans yeast – golden with a soapy collapsing white head. Smell is sweet fruity, flowers, yeast, apples, flowery yeast but bit muted possibly due to age. Taste is that of bitter esters, unmasked alcohol, grains, banana, glowers, sharply bitter, touch plasters and sharp spice yeast. Too much carb. With yeast – unfortunately there is too much yeast in this one when added too much bitter plaster and touch dirt, lots of cardboard, uneatable herbs, touch spoiled medication, not too pleasant and bit harsh to consume – not too bad without it though.

21/II/13 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: n/a - bottled: 3/XII/12 (2013-180) Thanks to Hilaire for the bottle!

Clear pale yellow beer, huge fizzy white head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: grassy hops, pretty fruity, some mango and passion fruit, hint of citrus. MF: lots of carbon, medium to light body. Taste: grassy and bitter start, citrus, little fruity, sour as well, little herbal, like a German pilsener. Aftertaste: hoppy, bitter, grassy, hint of citrus and a little fruity. In all a very simple light beer. Aroma induces expectations which are not filled in by the one dimensional flavour. Food pairing wise I think options are limited to a simple (spicy) salad or a light fish course.

12/I/13 - 33cl bottle from Limburgs Bierfestival @ home - BB: 16/V/14 (2013-11)

Little cloudy orange beer, small irregular off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit dusty, peppery, ripe to overripe fruits, spicy, dry, some citrus. MF: quite some carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of citrus, bit dusty, spices, peppery, sour. Aftertaste: orange peel, bitter grapefruit, bit sugary, fruity, bitter unpleasant ending. Can't taste the quinces, yet I've made and eaten quince jam myself lots of times.
