A draft poured from the tap at As Is NYC this week. Jet black body topped by a light tan ring of foam. The drink is malt certainly, syrup, sweet chocolate, cereal, vanilla, a bit of pecans. Mostly sweet, somewhat thinner than I like. Significantly dessert oriented.

1 pint can. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tan head. Aromas of chocolate fudge, mocha, and roasted malts. Flavors of nutty chocolate, mocha, and roasted malts. Just a bit of sweetness. Very nice.

On tap at TapRoom Beer Co, pours black with a small tan head. Why would they do this? Well, I have to try it. Aroma is strange, with soft, oxidized bready malt, herbs, miscellaneous spices, and a touch of liquorice. Flavour is pretty tepid on the Jager, with medium roasted malt, a touch of spices, and some bittering notes. Put a nice stout in shitty barrels for a bit, and I guess this is the result: a good stout that's been semi-ruined. It's fine I guess but not something I'd ever want to drink again.

Taste is slightly dry sour-ish boozy, old rope, bourbon, sour-ish roasted grain, minerals, toast, cough syrup, vanilla, oak, leather. Medium bitterness, slightly dry boozy mouthfeel. Nice.

Bottle 650ml vintage 2014 @ yngwie. Shared by shalg. Pours black with a few beige bubbles. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, earthy, bourbon, vanilla and coconut. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, chocolate, bourbon, coconut and vanilla finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

2022 Vintage drank in 2024. 10000th rate! Lots of syrupy flavor, really sweet, but somewhat balanced by the barrel. Tasty, but too sweet for me, like eating an extra sugary piece of chocolate cake. Well done for the style, but sort of choresome to drink a whole glass. Best split between 3 or so people I'd say.
