32oz growler from the brewery pours a clear orange with some sticky, white head. Nose has fresh grapefruit, pulp and peel, some soap, a little orange soda. Flavor is a little more authentic than the orange version, fresh grapefruit without a ton of bitterness, some lemon candies, soap. Finishes dry, lightly bitter.

On tap at the brewery pours a clear orange with some lacing, white head. Big orange nose, both authentic and faux, orange juice, some creamcicle, a little orange soda, light candy. Flavor is OJ and orange soda, lemon-lime too, soap, a little herbal tea. Finishes lightly bitter and a touch tannic.

Sampled at the brewery pours an opaque black with some creamy grey head. Nose has malt, some molasses, toast, grist. Flavor is straight up, grist, toast, some burnt coffee bean. Dry finish. What you expect.

On tap at the brewery pours a murky orange brown with a ring of fizzy, white head. Nose has blonde coffee, some turbinado sugar, light toffee, green coffee cherries, some bell pepper. Flavor has coffee grounds and green peppercorns, some honey, a little lemon lime soda. Dry finish. Interesting.

Crisp copper and light amber coloured body with a bit of a muddied brown glow and a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of rich malt, toffee, earth and a bit of subdued and grassy hops. Medium-bodied; Astringent malt flavour at first with some caramel, earth and a bit of grain along with some yeast, bread, nutty flavours and a touch of grassy hops at the end. Aftertaste is bitter and pungent with some nuts, earth and a little funk from the malt near the end. Overall, a relatively hoppy and nutty beer that shows more of an APA rather than a brown, but not a bad offering by any means. I sampled this sixteen ounce pour on draught at Whole Foods in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 23-January-2017 for US$4,00 at the end of my driveway!

22oz bottle from The Brew Shop, pours a hazy, dark orange/amber with some creamy, circling white head. Nose at first has a ton of raw wood shavings, like a cedar closet almost, warms and opens up to heavy toffee and caramel, heavy orange peel and potpourri, heavy booze, wood shavings, heavy oak. Everything is heavy. Flavor has malt, toffee, orange peel, vanilla, caramel, wood shavings, dust, a little cream soda. Finishes very full bodied, boozy and a bit astringent. Maybe this can age out into something pleasant, but the freshest form is just very harsh and heavy handed.

12 ounce bottle. Dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of fresh orange, roasted malt, chocolate. The taste is roasted malt, orange, dark chocolate. Thin. Decent.
