Draft at Baastard, Utrecht. Very hazy dull golden with a medium white head. Aroma of citrus, lemon and yeast. Flavour is above light sweet and bitter with some lemon acidity. Above light bodied with soft carbonation.

Sampled from tap at Brouwersfestival Utrecht 2016. Slightly hazy, dark brown to black with a soapy, tan layer. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of dark chocolate, some coffee, licorice and hints of dark ripe fruits. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, some licorice and caramel, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little roasty finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, flat. Nice!

Bottle @ Kloek, Utrecht. Dark brown colour, beige foam. Nose of roasted malts and coffee. Bitter and roasty. Easy drinkable. Nice porter but a bit thin.

Sampled at De Vrienden. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of vanilla, boozy alcohol notes, seems like it’s barrel aged in a not very nice barrel like jenever or something, malts, dark fruits and honey. Flavour is over moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

33cl Bottle from De Bierboetiek, thanks Chris&Suus! Almost black with a ruby hue, creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet, Belgian chocolate, dark fruits, roasted malts, coffee, caramel. Flavour is quite rich, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, caramel, dark fruits, red fruits, fruit and chocolate in the soft bitter finish. Medium bodied, easy drinking. Very good, nice cross between a Belgian Stout and a Porter. Can’t believe this is brewed at NHB.

van de tap op @UBF15, donker bruin met kaki kraag. Aroma van chocolade, geroosterde mouten, donkere fruiten, Smaken van geroosterde mout, chocolade, koffie, en bijbehorende droogheid, licht en dun van textuur, voor het eerste bier van deze brouwer is deze prima te doen.

Tap @ UBF ’15. Very dark color (not quite black). Off white head with big bubbles. Aroma’s: roasted, a bit stinky, weird. Retronasal it’s better: roasted, dark malty sweet. Flavor: Moderate swet, coffee, roast. Finishes roasted and moderate bitter.

Draught @ UBF 2015. Dark brown color with a deep dark red glare coming through when held into the light, small beige head. Aroma is malts, roasted malts, some hops, dark malts. Damn, that’s pretty nice! Taste malts, roasted malts, hops, nicely bitter, a hint of liquorice. Wow, superbly done! Winner of the day for me.
