Description
Popularized in myth for slaying a fire-breathing dragon, St. George was a 3rd century Roman soldier who stood up for good over evil and was put to death.

The St. George Brewing Company is located in Hampton, VA. It has been in operation since 1998, making us one of the oldest microbreweries in the Hampton Roads area. Our brews are geared toward traditional English and German style ales though occasionally we branch out. We have a tap room that offers 9-12 taps of our rotating beers during our business hours.

The various legends surrounding his death inspired the crusading kings of 12th century England. Today, St George is known as the patron saint of chivalry as well as the patron saint of England.

We have tapped that same inspiration to create award winning ales and lagers that proudly bear the cross of St George.

Bottle. Nice beer. Nutty, with a caramel flavor. It is okay, very malty, and roasty. Thick, but nice.

Clear dark amber color with a thin frothy off-white head. Light sweet malt aroma. Sweet flavor with lots of grassiness.

On tap at Blue Light, Charlottesville, VA. Deep brown with a frothyish head. Sweet nutty aroma, dominated by malts, but also has some citrusy hops there. Flavor is full of bitterness, with some grapefruity hops mixed in- just like the aroma. Kinda thick for a brown- but I’m not complaining!

Cloudy orange color with a frothy off-white head. Mild hoppy aroma mixed with light malt. Light hoppy flavor with hints of caramel.

Bottle Pours a deep inky black with noticeably high viscosity. Dark tan head that is creamy and full. Spotty lacing. Noce is very soft chocolatey and of prunes and cocoa. Noticaelby easy on the sharp bitterness that plenty of hops bring to the party in a RIS. Flavor was similar with lots of creamy chocolately tones. Dried dark pitted fruit and maybe tootsie rolls. Very nice smooth feel. Not over the top thick but buttery and slick. Very tasty new comer to the site. Thanks to Degarth for another winner.

On tap, at Rapture, of course. Pours a clear golden with no head. Aromas of wheat/grass, slight hops, and not much else. Thin flavor... very stereotypical lager- though not offensive in any way. I wish they would have gone with a better beer if they’ve chosen to have one brewed for them, but... oh well.
