Description
Popularized in myth for slaying a fire-breathing dragon, St. George was a 3rd century Roman soldier who stood up for good over evil and was put to death.

The St. George Brewing Company is located in Hampton, VA. It has been in operation since 1998, making us one of the oldest microbreweries in the Hampton Roads area. Our brews are geared toward traditional English and German style ales though occasionally we branch out. We have a tap room that offers 9-12 taps of our rotating beers during our business hours.

The various legends surrounding his death inspired the crusading kings of 12th century England. Today, St George is known as the patron saint of chivalry as well as the patron saint of England.

We have tapped that same inspiration to create award winning ales and lagers that proudly bear the cross of St George.

On tap at Mellow Mushroom, Charlottesville, VA. Pours light amber with no head whatsoever. Looks flat and quite plain. Slightly malty aroma, ordinary, with no hoppiness. Not much of a flavor, other than a simple amber or bock beer (which frequently relies on the ordinary and plain itself), with slight maltiness. Bland. Oh well. Note: this is NOT their "Fall Bock" beer.

Flavor is plain, un-IPAlike, and boring... to me, at least. Not really hoppy or malty, and no sweetness, or bitterness for that matter.
