2004 bottle compliments of Chris (csbosox) thanks for the amazing trade. Look forward to another! Pours a dark brown with some deep auburn/mahogany highlights. Good creamy head, tan and lasting. Aroma of lightly nutty hops and brown malts, with some light yeast accents and a mild creamy butter aroma. Flavor is very restrained and mild, with an easygoing english chocolate and toffee mixed well with light hopping. Overall, a dry, moderately roasty porter, with a smooth, lightly creamy body. The flavor is a bit too restrained for my liking, but the bottle conditioning and sediment in the bottom provide a full experience. It dosent seem lacking in the yeast department, just needs more malt. Easy to drink.
2004 bottle from heemer77! Hmm, well wasnt as enamoured this time around (2 weeks later, hah). Still a good mouthfeel and good yeast presence, but less malt than I’d like. They could definitely add some better English hops. Maybe it’s just because I had it recently, but the hops presence in Freeminer Deep Shaft (fuggles) would be awesome in this. Nice smoke and deep green fruitiness would be perfect.

Redish amber brew with a 1" head that’s creamy, tight and off white. Nice malt and yeast in the aroma. Very nice assault to the tongue. Cream and sugar, sweet like a liquid candy bar. Lots of body and a nice long finish. Thanks to csbosox for sending this one!

My thanks go to Indra for suppling this one from my wants list. This looks and smells wonderful. The pour produces an deep clear golden brew iwth a tight white head. Malt aroma is just right, not overpowering, but you don’t have to coax it either. Nice acid bite and the hops aren’t overpowering. This goes down smooth and refreshing with enough malt in the flavor to let you know this isn’t some weak amber ale. Good medium body that balances everything out nicely. Worth seeking out.

Thaks to Indra for this trade brew! Ruby highlights come through this deep dark brew that produces a full head of thick, tan, whipped cream head. Yeasty, malty aroma invites a sip of this malty smooth brew that goes over the tongue in perfect balance. Very nicely done Porter that can hold it’s own with the big names.

Pour is a very pale yellow. Aroma is non-existant. Flavor is also weak. I can’t even describe it b/c there is nothing there. There is much better out there.

Pour is a nice light amber with a white head. Aroma is of weak hops. Flavor is also pretty weak in the hops department but the malts save this one. Decent but not outstanding.

Bottle Pours a very dark jet black with a small tan head. Nice even lacing. Aromas are a vary yummy sweet chocolatey smokey flavor but no bitterness. Flavors are less sweet more dry and smokey. Little hops but plenty of burnt malt and smokey goodness. A bit astringent and thin. Nice and drinkable. Thanks to HarfteeDark for sharing.

Bottled. Poured into a tall weizen glass, there’s a big wheaty head that dissipates rapidly, with little lacing. Light, cloudy body. Smell is a refreshing, light ’n’ zesty wheat, with just a tiny hint of lemony zest. Taste goes down easy, soft and a little spicy. No "extreme" taste but very nice. Couple weeks ago I ran into Boulevard’s brewmaster’s wife at Rock Bottom Chicago. She was looking for more good beer places, so I helped her locate more, while admitting that I hadn’t tried any Boulevard beers yet. Then on a trip through Iowa, I found them placed in Hy-Vee stores and happily picked up a six of this to try.

Pours a nice clear copper with a small white head. Aroma is toasty malt and a nice bready scent. Flavor is very hoppy for a lager. Alomg with the hops is the big malty flavor you get in the nose. Very drinkable and smooth.
