Description
In 1824 master brewer Johann Philipp Ledermann came to the small village Döllnitz near Halle and started brewing Gose at Döllnitz Manor. The brewery continued to brew gose till WW 2. After the war the manor brewey was dismantled and the original gose was brewed at several places up till 2015.

Since 2015 we brew our "Original Ritterguts Gose" in close collaboration with Brauerei Reichenbrand in Chemnitz. This small, classic family-brewery fulfills all the requirements necessary for the optimization of our very special brewing process -- in particular the availability of open-fermentation, which we consider a primary component in making a proper gose.

Many thanks David. Fruity sour nose. The beer starts mild yeasty, fruity parts. Easy to drink, a bit weak with a mild soft sour graininess. Yeast, mild sour, refreshing with mild yeast. Not as sour or smoked as expected.

Bottle (Dank am See!):Pale golden, a bit unclear, big and quite stable beaten-egg-white-like white head, lively carbonation, mild to moderate sourish-mineralic nose, mild citrussy or malic traces underneath, hints of delicate smoky influences hard to detect ; mild to moderate sourish-sweetish flavour with a low bitterness, light bodied, silky MF; lingering citrussy finish with - fortunately - very shy smoky traces and a mild bitterness in the aftertaste. Chapeau! Much better than expected; a fine and refreshing summer-drink...

Tap ar Falkon's 10 year b-day bash, at Loft BubNY. Hazy golden body with a lasting white head. Slightly sickly yeasty and wheaty aroma, pleasant light smoke. Tart, lean, drinkable, with light smokey and wheaty touches. Okay enough, it is what it is, respect for making the style!

50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 06/2023 Aroma has mild smoke and bubblegum. High and somewhat stinging carbonation. Flavour has green apples, sour cream, mild smoke. Something between berliner weisse and grätzer. Way too much CO2 here.

Pours a translucent, very hazy pale golden, with a big and quite dense white head that shows good retention and some lacing. The look of a very pale hefeweizen. Good enough intensity in the aroma: a bit of dough-like base follow by dominant notes of lemon, with lighter salty, slightly spicy notes and a hint of sourness. Feels quite refreshing, i can't detect anything smoky though. Taste feels quite intense as well, with the slightest dough-like base, strong bubblegum, vivid lemon notes, hints of saltiness. Sourness (half lactic, half citric) is quite delicate, bringing a hint of freshness/relief from the very sweet taste. Barely detectable smokiness in both mouth and aftertaste, i was certainly expecting more of it. Despite hints of smokiness and some refreshing sourness, the beer feels like a very sweet hefeweizen, with too much chewy bubblegum character. Not exactly my cup of tea. Light bodied with quite high carbonation, very much the body of an hefeweizen. Ok, decently refreshing and fairly interesting, but definitely too sweet for me.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small fizzy white head. Aroma is lime and salt water. Flavor is more tart lemon and lime with some coriander and bittering hops. This had a decent overall flavor and the tartness was a bit tame. Worth a try.
