Description
We started out in 1996 as a small group of San Diego home brewers who simply wanted to make a better beer. In our exploration, we became obsessed with ingredients—tinkering, testing and tasting to find the perfect balance of taste and aroma. That adventurous spirit leads to award-winning beers in classic and unique styles while challenging our own tastes and expanding yours.
We’re proud of our San Diego hometown, our employees, our beers, and our fans. We think of our employees as family, and you, our fans, as extended family. You’ll see us use #BPPROUD as a badge of pride and a way to further connect with our beer loving community.

Draught Brown-black beer, no head to speak of. Coca-Cola pearling. Slightly smoked, black malts, roasted, slight cigar. Very light on the roasted side, a bit of chocolate, and more cigar flavour. Good balance for this 6% (so indicated at the brewery blackboard), not watery and quite smooth. Good, if not stellar porter.

Draught Thick, very dense greyish head; black beer with red-brownish shine. Very roasted and very obvious oatmeal, even in the nose?! Very roasted, quite nutty (rather than coffee), more oats & grains in the flavour. Very smooth, creamy texture. A stout that is very much tuned by the oats - not bad.

Draught No head (dirty glass - at the brewery!), slightly hazy orange colour. Very expressly pineapple nose, some hops, but generally sweetish-fruity smelling. Fruits and sweetish, like a fruitcake with pineapple and some citrus. Hops are there, but they hardly seem US! Yet, this is good, if a tad sweet. Medium bodied. Quite easily drinkable, the alcohol being inconspicious, this is a dangerous one. The least hoppy of all IIPA’s - and yet this is more than OK. And such thing on the West Coast - shocking!

Draught Golden-amber beer with a good yellowish head. Good floral & citrussy hops, some sweet malt coming through. Some caramel, cakecrust and orange-marmalade hops. Rather well-bodied, quite slick. Quite good, and even discreet ale. The Ballast Point forte: balance.

Draught Fully hazy green-yellow; small whitish head, fast gone. Coriander abounds, some citrus, and definitely wheat. Don’t get much clove/banana. Sweet with a citrussy thrust; perfumey, and coriander galore. Retronasal a bit of bananaester. Pretty light, even for a wit; smooth but refreshing. Aftertaste distinct oranges. Very refreshing, but also very light wit.

Dark orange beer with a yellowish-tinted head. Very fruity grapey, some "bittered" malts. Very dry-hoppy, again grapey, grapefruit, warm malts underneath all the hops. Well-bodied, rather fiery MF. Nice, if a bit cliché W.C. IPA.

Draught Fully clear orange-golden beer with a very fine-dense head. Slighty smoked malt, and lots of pale malts. Dry-malty taste, peanuts flavour, toasted malts and a hint at hops. At the end, restsugars aplenty, and one would suspect an addition of corn - in a Kölsch... Light bodied, quite slick and not really empty; very slight burning MF. Definitely a "Kölsch" with an American twist, if not really superfluous.

Draught Small, off-white head over amber-orange ale. Hops, C-hops, but in a discreet citrussy aroma; as well as green apple ester. Very smoky taste, hopscake - even a lot. Cigarette ashes it really are. Quite a lot of taste for such a low-alcohol beer (the brewery blackboard said 3.5 percent!), but the finish is a bit watery after all, and it is discreet - maybe too discreet, but indeed a very flavourful "session"beer.

Deep amber with medium amberish head, very dense. Outspoken C-hops, hopcake, caramel, well balanced nose. Hoppy, bitter, hopcake, bit of orangemarmalade; ends metallic. Very slick and well-bodied. Nice amber ale, almost an IPA.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours golden orange with a nicely lacing and light off-white head. Peach and grapefruit hops aroma, very inviting and fresh. Flavour starts light sweet caramelish, goes into light malt note before a nice set of light peach, pineapple and distinct grapefruit flavour appear in the finish. Shows a light wooden note and solid dryness into the finish and beyond. Nice.
