Bottle from their stand in Plzeň. First went for the Whiskey Barrel version but when the lady showed me there were more barriques, went for this instead this time. Pale golden body, still, of course. The aroma is exactly what one would expect from an American oak aged mead. Classic honey/fermented honey aroma? Check. Vanilla/woody oaky notes? Check. Warming? Check. Lightly tart near the end of the aroma, glue at times. Very complex Lean, light, harmonious taste, good honey profile, tasty and clean fairly, not overwhelming, drinkable, with the wood upgrading it slighty, mostly vanilla I'd guess, some powdered sugar, actually fairly simple. This was in for 3 years but did not get overwhelmed by the wood, actually benefiting from the extra complexity. Well hidden alcohol flavor-wise, though it's quite warming. The oaky notes actually take the honey sometimes into an interesting candy-like direction, which is always a plus. Well worth the 300+kč I paid for 0.5l in all honesty!
