Bottle - Vintage 1987 - Sweet and mellow jammy strawberry. Clear Amber with a small white head. Sweet syrupy cooked strawberry. This old vintage has taken the sweetness and mellowed it out with a really nice cooked fruit notes.

Leighton’s 20K at his posh new gaff! Thanks to Leighton for this unexpected treat. Almost clear amber beer, slight brown tint. Small pale tan head. Palate is light, fairly dry. Modest fine carbonation. Good palate for the age. Modest cherry, marzipan, little wet wood. Musty note and very mild gueuzey vibe.Light finish. A tasty and characterful antique.

Bottle shared at the Leighton mega 20k tasting. 1/03/2017. Huge thanks to Leighton for this one. A clear copper ruby red brown coloured pour with a fine off white head. Aroma is sweet caramel, jammy fruits, cough syrup, cherry. Flavour is composed of semi cherry, woody cherry pips, cherry, little marzipan, little musty. Palate is sweet and sticky, lowish carbonation. Aged pretty well. Cherry bakewell.

Bottle shared at the 20k tasting - sourced via trade. Vintage late 1980s - maybe ’87. Pours clear amber with minimal head. Lots of simple cherry candies in the nose, faint wood, very faint caramel. Light sweet flavour with only hints of age, more cherry candies, cough drops, minimal acidity, some wood. Light bodied with almost no carbonation. Finishes with more sweet, juicy cherry, marzipan, faint woody dryness. Quite enjoyable. Doesn’t really show many signs of age.

Demanding smell but the taste is intriguing. Heavy oxidation has ruined it but it’s also very interesting to experience how that’s happened.

Bottle courtesy of Maschusch. 1972 vintage. Pours clear deep brownish red with no head worth mentioning. Smell is fruity and of course heavy oxidized with crackers, caramel, light cherries, rotten wood, leather, old forgotten 100 year old barn, raisins, prunes, hay, moist soil and lemon zest. Taste is sour, tiny malty, slightly fruity and leathery. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny oily, tdry, tart and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and sour with crackers, caramel, sour cherries, raspberries, old tobacco, hay, minerals, leather, old barn and lemon zest. Demanding smell but the taste is intriguing. Heavy oxidation has ruined it but it’s also very interesting to experience how that’s happened.

Sampled purchased from Kraddel. Thanks! 750 ml. bottle sampled. Bottle from 1970s – 1980s. Dark fox red, head quickly gone. Nose is dominated too much by mold, cellar, rotting cork ditch water, lemon,… Luckily you can ignore it,… Cellar & rotting cork are less present in taste , low ditch water, moldy lemon, fruity is largely lemon-like, faint vinegar, rather watery, fruit is low & vague,… Overal better than expected, it is a bit too watery, weak moldy lemon tasting, cellar, moldy corn has crept into it. Definetly too old, better than expected, there is still mild lambiek notes etc. in this one. Given that this was presumably finished, its surprisingly lambiek-like even if watery, moldy lemon etc. definitely worth more attention than their Kriek of Framboise.
