Bottle courtesy of maschusch. 1982 vintage. Pours hazy burnt orange with a small offwhite head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is funky and smokey with crackers, lemon juice, green apples, smoked ham, moist hay, leather, barnyard, moist soil and lemon zest. Taste is sour, tiny fruity, slightly smokey and funky. Finish is sour with crackers, lemon juice, apples, smoked meat, leather, hay, moist soil, barnyard and lemon zest. Always cool to drink something as old as you. I’m about as sour and dry but not sure I’m as smokey. Solid gueuze but suspect it was better many years ago.

Kriek eylenbosch cuvee 1987 9€ follow a 35 year old brown with a 28 year old Kriek from a closed lambic brewery. I like fruit beers. 5% Pouring a deep brownish red. The nose is sweet candied cherries with a hint of a medicinal character.  Medium bodied with a smooth silky mouthfeel. Fantastic flavor, brandied cherries, mild tartness, candy syrup. Sweet but delicious. Wow. Looking at the other rates guess I got a good bottle.

Well-balanced ’compromis’ framboise with both commercial sweetness and subtle lambic-like funkiness, true raspberry taste as well as sugar. Tasted many years ago from tap at Botteltje in Ostend. Too bad Eylenbosch of Schepdaal went the way of the dodo in 1991, every lambic brewery disappearing is a loss for Belgian beer culture.

Bottle at Kulminator. Clear deep reddish brown liquid with a small white head. Aroma of cardboard, bread, cinnamon, raspberries and lemon’. Taste is light sweet and light sour with notes of raspberries, cinnamon and bread. Medium bodied with very low carbonation. Still nice, probably a great beer once.

Bottle at Kulminator. 1987 vintage. Almost clear deep murky brown liquid with a small off-white head. Aroma of almonds, dust/cellar, barnyard, cardboard and lemon. Taste is light to medium sweet and light sour with notes of almonds, cherries, barnyard and sugar. Medium bodied with low carbonation. OK, sweet and too old.

1987 Vintage. 330mL bottle, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of cherries and notes of oxidation. Flavour brings out heaps of cherries, cherry syrup, not really any oxidation, maybe a hint of cardboard. Amazing that this has held up so well. It's maybe slightly more oxidized than the Framboise. Very enjoyable stuff for a 27-year old beer, even with the syrupy cherry.

1987 Vintage. 330mL bottle, pours a clear bronze amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out faded raspberries, funk, and cardboard. Flavour is very soft, with sweet raspberries, followed by only a touch of funk and maybe a hint of oxidation. The raspberries are surprisingly front and centre, with not a whole lot of funk or even oxidation. Carbonation is very soft, almost flat. This has stood up well. Very good stuff.

Vintage from the 80s. bottle was incredibly dirty unsurprisingly. So musty on the nose like smelling an old basement with cheese rind and leather shoes. taste was just about the same. flat cheesy, stale, mild dessert wine port notes with dried cow dung. Considering the age, not bad but couldn’t get through the glass.
