Bottled (from Cracked Kettle). Hazy golden colour, small white head. Aroma is raspberry and mild notes of paper. Flavour is berries, fruits and some wheat. Not very exciting.

22oz Bomber thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a pretty, off-white head over a hazy amber body. Aroma of candi sugar, plums, prunes, apples and alcohol. Taste is brandy, alcohol, baked pear, spice and yeast. Light bubbles, water like mouthfeel. By far the best Abita product I have had.

On tap at beerfest in new Orleans. Pours a cloudy copper with a medium frothy white head that lasts. The aroma is a spicy fruit malt. Good sticky lacing on the glass. The taste is a dry malt with yeast and light spice. A decent doppelbock from abita.

pours dark brown, with off white head. Aroma of roasted caramel malt and chocolate. Taste malty and caramel with light notes of chocolate. Full body with grainy palate and some hops. Probably one of Abita’s best.

pours copper with white head. Aroma is hoppy, wheat and malty, really nothing special there. Taste, hoppy with some fruit notes, light malt presence giving the beer a sweet mouthfeel of wheat/caramel with notes of grains. Boring at best.

pours light copper with white head. Aroma is fruity/hoppy with light malts/caramel and strong citrus nose. Taste was soapy hoppy with plenty of caramel malts characteristics. Finish with light bitter citrus touch, medium carbonation.

pours very clear golden with thcik white head. Aroma is grainy, with notes of corn. Taste, reminded me a lot of pilsnener, weak, some wheat, leaves a nasty metalic thick palate mouthfeel with some grauny/corn touch. Sweet, easy to drink, but really another weak effort by Abita.

pours cloudy golden with white head. Aroma of raspberry, and a lot more present than in the tap version. Taste, thick mouthfeel, raspberry feels more like a juice than a good purée. Light tartness, some floating yeast. Overall sweet and very one dimensional. Really not the fruit beer that will leave a mark, feels too fake / extract.

22oz bottle, my first Abita 22. Way more of a Heller-Bock appearance than a Doppelbock, as the bottle (Helles Doppelbock) would indicate I suppose. Highly filtered golden orange color with little head but plenty of carbonation bubbles. Mild sweet bocky aroma. Pretty decent mouthfeel, not far from the real thing. Sweet with the unique bocky yeast/malt lagered taste. Some hop crispness which quickly fades into malty sweetness. Pretty good, certainly better than most Abita beers
