Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.

We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Pours with a small, foamy, white head that fades over a hazy, penny colored body. Aroma of light citrus hops, tangy orange, caramel, soggy malts and pine nuts. Taste is a bit bitter, without any good flavor hops. Caramel and watery. Not complex or interesting. Just a brewer going through the motions. Dry and fizzy.

Small foamy white head over a clear, weak copper body. Some lace, but retention is lacking. Aroma is weak. Seltzer, honey, grass, metal, bread and dough. Taste is husky, slightly astringent, wet straw, a touch of caramel and corn. Really dry and thin. Fizzy. Not one of Abita’s better products (I prefer there Root Beer over this).

Is this the same beer that others have rated so low? 22 oz bottle pours a golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma is honey, sweet, malt, hop, and grass. Flavor is malts, bitter hop flavor. The alcohol is masked quite well.

Very basic but nice hop aromatics and flavors lead to a very refreshing, clean and easy drinking IPA. Resin and citrus hop nose, mild bready malts. Medium body. Zippy. Copper color.
