Description
The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We brew more than 125,000 barrels of beer and 13,500 barrels of soda of in our state-of-the-art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews.

We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one.

Golden with a thin, frothy head. Very little aroma—bready, a bit. Taste is blandly sweet, full of dough and grains. Mild, crisp bitterness at the end. Underwhelming. This is misclassified and should be a „Heller Bock“. An attempt at one anyway.

Draft at loca New Orleans restaurant we had gift card only tick available. Gold pour no head. Nose is thick strawberry syrup. Tastes similar I would’ve guessed a syrup but they say fresh harvest so really condensed strawberry flavor. A light lager underneath. Not much else but nothing else promised.

Bottle: Hazy, very pale gold with a short white head. Slightly overripe grapefruit aroma. Taste is sweet, if aged, grapefruit, lemon, grain malt..... Nice and juicy. A bit of white grape. Pretty clean, easy-drinking and tasty.

12oz bottle. Yellow-tan body. Foamy white head. Really is quite dry, a pretty solid example of the style. Pleasant fruity hop tones over a bone dry body. Well executed.

12 ounce bottle from Woodman's Oak Creek, 6/8/19. A meh brewery but trying to round out those state #s. This makes Louisiana #41. Hazy pale orange, thin creamy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of strong grapefruit, some dank (smelled weed as soon as I opened this), pith. Taste is grapefruit, dandelion, pale malt. A bit of sweetness. Medium bodied, mild bitterness. Solid.
